@MikeGrey97 Indy 500 is always like this mate. Cruise around, don't crash, try be top 10/15 for the last pit stop cycle.

@tiff_tv Not many actual meaningful changes for the lead though to be fair. 160 laps of cruising around on a fuel save to try and get one (maybe two more) laps just isn't what 'The Greatest Spectacle' should be (although always is). Race highlights are crashes and last few laps.

No, from Apache helicopters (or whatever they were) flying over the top of the parade laps, through the multiple lead changes, the accidents and everthing building up to that last lap ...
Adam@7nightstorock

@tiff_tv @IndyCar You mean the last couple of laps in a 3.5 hour race was exciting Tiff?

@triweb @cheapsuits @indycarpodcast I genuinely don't know the specifics but at least they're consistent with red flagging it near the end so I've no issues there.

@cheapsuits @indycarpodcast Nope! Indycar is generally a better spectacle albeit Barber and Long Beach were boring as an F1 race this year. St Pete wasn't much better. Arlington was a decent event but not actually a great race.

@Kaymull43 @indycarpodcast I've been watching indycar and F1 since the 90s. I love them both. The first 150 laps of the indy 500 are pointless, the cars are desperately in need of 2028 to come already, and this race is an utter snoozefest until the last few laps.

@cheapsuits @indycarpodcast Come on. Everyone cruising round on a fuel save for 160 laps. Leaders swapping positions to help their fuel save. Only gets interesting in the last 40 laps and even then it was only helped because they red flagged it (consistent approach to this over the years so fair enough).

I'm still on the edge of my seat, I'm exhausted, I'm in tears. That @Indycar 500 my friends was motor RACING at its very best! Massive congratulations to Rosenqvist who had it won until that late caution and fought back from third. Awesome. Has that Mario Kart race started yet?

@jeffreyboadi_ Based on zero knowledge myself, I've always thought monitoring every aspect of your day to day life is meaningless if you can't understand or interpret the info correctly. Never mind that I'm guessing it then creates an unnecessarily analytical mindset too.

@MrJamesMay Yes, that’s what we did of course. Finding a cork to replace it is more tricky though, as we only had artificial wine corks which are difficult to whittle to size.

@ChimeraX2021 @brook_f1 What I mean is if you take the running length of the last 15 indy 500s and started them at 12:45pm this year, none would run into this year's Canadian Grand Prix.

Mick catching grief for this but his honesty needs context. Day 1. ROP. Gradual pace increase. Car isn’t trimmed out. Stands aren’t full. No pack running. He hasn’t yet driven IMS in anger. He’s also prepared for this. Phoenix was a step into the unknown. Something new and awe inspiring. This is the next step up. Not the giant leap it might have been were it, as for many recent rookies, his first oval. His comparison to F1 is also key but likely to be misunderstood. Even as an F2 champion he admits the step up to F1 was huge. His comments reflect that his preparation for Indy has been better because it doesn’t feel like a massive leap… yet. Some might see this as disrespect. But Mick has tried from the outset of this season not to be overawed by the challenge ahead of him. That doesn’t mean he is underwhelmed by what the track or the race represents. I’d argue he is trying to keep emotions in check. And for Indy that is absolutely vital. Because come race day, whether it’s your first or 21st, the 500 can be emotionally overwhelming. As for whether he “gets it” yet? Take him on his words the Monday after the 500.
