Damn I was only assuming the big devs were unaware of their lifecycle problems and their lifecycle positives 😐 that post from last week had a lot of people dm'ing me and the conversations this week were eye opening. Does the high end industry just burn these people out ?

@akinoMmmmm You're think from an adults world of esports. There's a whole local / state world youre maybe not aware of. Esports grew from the top down and it caused a lot of problems. What im talking about is the bottom up growth thats harder to see

@A_Real_Hero "Naturally successful" >proceeds to list dead irrelevant games that are a joke in the esports world. Here's an idea, focus on the only one that matters. CS.

I'm officially dropping LOL from my supported roster. Many other programs dropped it the last few years or are dropping now. Hate dropping the game that got me into esports as a career but it's irresponsible for me to think it can -

@ViraL_Cyclopes @jlthakad It is, which is really good imo. Problem ive seen is there's a generation of kids who called it a boomer game for not having it

On a positive note with this post. Im starting to have alumni of 7y+ having kids now and if league stays alive and shapes up in ms / hs. It'll probly be the 1st true generational esport. Devs just cant ignore ms / hs anymore for college / adulthood esports

@HankatLoL lol i wouldnt say fall of esports - guess your eluding to career lifers being out of touch. Idk the answer to why some of these people doing community management or something adjacent are unaware of certain things but esports is def at an okay state still just have learning to do

@tobaccogroyper @jlthakad @drewlevin you'll have better luck persuading someone without the cruel rhetoric, pro tip VC is coming so they're aware of that, but they have a hole to climb out of now since they were against it for too many years

@A_Real_Hero @jlthakad Competition in a collegiate setting doesn't have to be soy infused with big gay training wheels bro but ya Where the fuck is in game flex queue voice ladder @drewlevin

@jlthakad lol wish it was my job to be able to put daily effort into that. But bringing awareness to a problem gives the devs perspective and that's a goal i had with this post. MSLOL and HSLOL would go a very long way, especially integrated into existing state leagues

@robert_skinnion they know young people are playing but they're unaware of the success MS / HS / college brings to longevity of an IP. I have alumni still in touch with their HS / my program in college and keeping up or donating. It's normal sports in that regard, but these IPs need to keep up

@robert_skinnion I think they know about it but at too late of the stage. They support CLOL a decent bit and give it awareness. To be fair RL / OW / Smash give little to no support as well but their product is more inclined towards the younger audience. They're getting lucky and dont know it

@Luxpla @jlthakad They play but its an older player base that starts playing later in life. There's a lot of missed opportunity to have a hs and college esports experience for a game that I think should be alive on those spaces.

@jlthakad @A_Real_Hero The US has killed its own ecosystem by leaving LCS to die. North Americans don’t watch LoL and don’t care. They do play the game though.

@jlthakad Its a lot for a x reply but games outdated decision making like no vc, lackluster in game tournaments like rl and fn have, no metered learning curve like fps lowering maps i.e. league would have to limit Champs or something to help learning curve. Smurfs... there's a lot

@YanniCasts Lack of something like premier in val, fortnite and rl have far better built in competitive stuff. No voice comms - kids grew up on fn and roblox. Lol no vc is an outdated game to them

@tinman2687 Just host weeklies for game titles. Compete after you get a feel of what your students want to play. Most popular are smash, rl, ow, Val, rivals, Mario kart

But it makes so much more sense for us to support the games that are naturally successful (OW, Smash, RL, VAL). We don't have the bandwidth to lift up a dwindling community. -
