🚀 History Made: Nigeria’s First Claude AI Hackathon!
Several weeks ago, this was just an idea: “Let’s host Nigeria’s first Claude AI Hackathon.”
It sounded exciting. And at some point also sounded… almost impossible.
No blueprint. No precedent. Just a bold vision and a team willing to make history.
Fast forward to Thinkathon 1.0 at UNILAG.
A full hall. Bright minds building with Claude AI.
Energy you could feel the moment you stepped in. And somehow… it all came together.
But here’s the part many don’t/didn’t see:
▣ The late nights trying to make every visual feel right.
▣ The pressure of translating something as powerful as AI into a physical experience.
▣ The constant question in my head: “Does this actually feel like the future?”
As design lead, I wasn’t just creating graphics. I was shaping perception.
Every screen. Every banner. Every detail in the room.
It all had to say one thing without words: “This is different. This is Regal.”
There were moments it didn’t feel like it would all click.
But then the doors opened.
People walked in… paused… looked around… And you could see it land. That realization that they were in a different reality, a landmark of innovation, in the presence of greatness about to unfold, and that they would be witnesses heralding this amazing story.
And watching the reactions of the people in that moment? That’s exaclty why I took on this role and task.
But of course, none of this happened alone, here's also to everyone who helped make this a reality:
Here’s my huge thank you to every @ClaudeBCUnilag executive for your great execution and commitment.
And the biggest takeaway? Watching participants build real solutions with Claude AI.
That’s when it hit me:
We didn’t just host an event. We shifted something.
Nigeria’s tech ecosystem is evolving fast.
And this felt like one of those moments you’ll look back on and say,
“Yeah… that’s where it started.”
It was great to serve you all and build this dream.
And now, on to the next one 🚀

Last Friday, we hosted the first Claude Hackathon in Nigeria. Over 100 applications screened down to 5 finalists who pitched incredible solutions built with Claude.
Everyone who walked into that room left better than they arrived.
Watch out for @ClaudeBCUnilag, more to come 👀
