Ubisoft is getting backlash over Anne Bonny in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake. In the original 2013 game, Anne Bonny had a bold outfit with cleavage that matched her tough pirate style, but in the remake her top is much more covered. They probably hired a consultant to adjust for modern audiences. Fans are angry because they say Ubisoft censored her look and only changed her clothes while leaving everyone else the same. The bill, named the Protect Our Games Act, was introduced by Assemblymember Chris Ward. It sets clear rules for video game companies that sell games connected to online servers. If it becomes law, it would apply only to new games sold after January 1, 2027. >Before shutting down servers, companies must notify players at least 60 days in advance. >They must then provide one of three options: -an offline version playable forever -a free patch allowing play without the company’s servers -or a full refund. Many companies currently shut down servers and make paid games unplayable. This bill aims to stop that. The Stop Killing Games campaign supported the bill, while the Entertainment Software Association opposed it, arguing the rules would hurt new game development. The opposition failed in the committee vote.

Harada is the head of the studio, which is based in Tokyo. They want to make great games that players will remember for a long time by using the latest tech, giving the team real creative freedom, and working in a relaxed place where new ideas can grow easily. Their motto is "Beyond tradition, crafted to perfection." Harada is now looking for people who love games to join the team. No first game has been announced yet but the studio will start hiring soon.

Hundreds of millions or billions of installations add up to thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions globally from data transfer, even though each is a one-time event. Every controller that is not Xinput requires an overlay/driver to function correctly on PC GamePass/Xbox PC. This has been a thing since the 360/Ps3. Windows reads your controller as Direct Input. This is also why Steams Overlay is far better since you can customize the controls

Valve has reportedly made a major internal price hike for its upcoming Steam Machine. New leaks from hardware expert Brad Lynch indicate that the Steam Machine has received the largest cost increase among Valve’s new hardware due to global shortages and price spikes in RAM and memory components for PCs. Thanks to AI, the Steam Machine could now end up more expensive than the standalone Steam Frame VR headset when they launch. That’s exactly the opposite of what Valve wanted to do in its initial plans. Valve has already acknowledged delays and pricing reviews for these devices, but exact prices haven’t been revealed yet. Sad news for the French games industry. Spiders Studio, the Paris-based developer known for games like GreedFall, Steelrising, The Technomancer, and Mars: War Logs, is shutting down. Founded in 2008, the studio has been a subsidiary of Nacon and is shutting down because no one wants to buy it. The court-appointed administrator is expected to request judicial liquidation this Wednesday, and it’s described as largely a formality. Over the last few days, the team of around 70 people has moved from working on future projects to updating CVs and handling practical matters like buying studio equipment. Hoping for the best for the developers affected.

Microsoft just made two useful storage upgrades, the old 32 GB limit on FAT32 formatting is gone. You can now create FAT32 volumes up to 2 TB straight from Command Prompt. This makes it much easier to format large external drives, USB sticks, and memory cards. Plus, the Storage page in Settings now loads faster and feels much smoother when you have multiple drives or very large volumes connected. These changes are available right now for Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels.

Capcom Mass Copyright Strike Hits Major Resident Evil Mod Channel Capcom sent a legal notice to GrizzoUK, a YouTube channel with 216,000 subscribers that shows spicy adult-style costume mods for Resident Evil games. The notice ordered the removal of over 1,000 videos with spicy nude outfits on Capcom characters from Resident Evil and Street Fighter. If ignored, the whole channel could be shut down. GrizzoUK removed the videos to save the channel, and the creator now says he will stop making Resident Evil mod videos. The notice listed many specific videos. It also included some mods from non-Capcom games like Stellar Blade. In a 2023 company presentation they said all unofficial mods count as cheats. They claimed mods hurt the game and the brand, They especially dislike mods seen as offensive. Most other game companies support mods. Capcom does not and says the company has the right to protect its games and image especially with adult content.
