I haven’t met a single Russian official who would think this is a good idea. Watching TV shows doesn’t bring one closer to understanding what people in charge think like. At least on this matter.

If Iran acquires nuclear weapons, Russia will no longer be able to treat it as a junior partner. Russia's vague promises of a security guarantee and conventional weapons transfers would no longer have value. Would be self-defeating from Russia. But they do a lot of dumb stuff.
