The global situation remains in flux, and we are closely monitoring developments across energy, supply chains, and essential commodities on a real-time basis. Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji, all necessary steps are being taken to ensure uninterrupted availability of fuel, energy, and other critical supplies for our citizens. We are fully prepared to handle emerging challenges. India has consistently demonstrated resilience in the face of global uncertainties, and we will continue to act in a timely, proactive, and coordinated manner. Rumours of a lockdown in India are completely false. Let me state this clearly, there is no such proposal under consideration by the Government of India. In such times, it is important that we remain calm, responsible, and united. Attempts to spread rumours and create panic in such a situation are irresponsible and harmful. वैश्विक स्थिति अभी भी अनिश्चित बनी हुई है, और हम ऊर्जा, सप्लाई चेन और ज़रूरी वस्तुओं से जुड़े हालात पर लगातार नज़र बनाए हुए हैं। माननीय प्रधानमंत्री जी के नेतृत्व में सरकार यह सुनिश्चित कर रही है कि देश में ईंधन, ऊर्जा और अन्य आवश्यक चीज़ों की आपूर्ति बिना किसी रुकावट के जारी रहे। हर संभावित चुनौती से निपटने के लिए हम पूरी तरह तैयार हैं। भारत ने पहले भी वैश्विक अनिश्चितताओं के बीच अपनी मज़बूती दिखाई है, और आगे भी हम समय पर, सक्रिय और समन्वित तरीके से कदम उठाते रहेंगे। लॉकडाउन को लेकर फैल रही अफवाहें पूरी तरह गलत हैं। मैं स्पष्ट करना चाहता हूँ कि सरकार के स्तर पर ऐसा कोई प्रस्ताव विचाराधीन नहीं है। ऐसे समय में ज़रूरी है कि हम सभी शांत, ज़िम्मेदार और एकजुट रहें। इस तरह की स्थिति में अफवाह फैलाना और बेवजह डर का माहौल बनाना गैर-जिम्मेदाराना और हानिकारक है।

International crude prices have gone through the roof in the last 1 month from around 70 dollars/barrel to around 122 dollars/barrel. Consequently, petrol and diesel prices for consumers have gone up all over the world. Prices have increased by around 30%-50% in South East Asian countries, 30% in North American countries, 20% in Europe and 50% in African countries. The Modi Government had two choices- either increase prices drastically for citizens of Bharat as all other nations have done or bear the brunt on its finances so that Indian citizen is insulated from international volatility. Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji, in keeping with his Government’s commitment of last 4 years since the conflict in Russia-Ukraine started, decided to take a hit on its own finances again to safeguard the Indian citizen. Government has taken a huge hit on it taxation revenues to ensure very high losses of oil companies (approximately 24 Rs/litre for petrol and 30 Rs/litre for diesel) at this time of sky high international prices are reduced. At the same time, export tax has been levied as international prices of petrol and diesel have skyrocketed and any refinery exporting to foreign nations will have to pay export tax. My gratitude to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji and Hon’ble FM @nsitharaman Ji for this very timely, bold and visionary decision!

Despite the current geopolitical situation involving major energy producers, our energy imports are secure and continue to flow from different sources using non-Hormuz routes. We are comfortably placed and are able to meet the energy requirements of our citizens. There is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene, ATF or fuel oil. The availability of petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel, kerosene, and fuel oil is fully assured. Retail outlets across the country are stocked and supply chains for these products are functioning normally. Domestic piped gas to homes and CNG for vehicles receive 100% supply with no cuts. Modi Govt’s foremost priority is that the kitchens of India’s 33+ crore families, especially the poor and the underprivileged, do not face any shortage. Domestic supply is fully protected and the delivery cycle is unchanged. In a major decision, 20% of the average monthly Commercial LPG requirement will be allocated from today to restaurants and eateries by OMCs, in coordination with the State Governments so that there is no hoarding or black marketing. This is not the moment for rumour-mongering or fake narratives. India is navigating the most severe global energy disruption in recorded history. Crude supply is flowing. Gas is prioritised for homes and farms. LPG production has been stepped up by 28%. Like we have done in the past, now is the time for the nation to come together and overcome this challenge. In light of current geopolitical disruptions to fuel supply and constraints on supply of LPG, Ministry has issued orders to oil refineries for higher LPG production and using such extra production for domestic LPG use. The ministry has prioritised domestic LPG supply to households and introduced 25 day inter- booking period to avoid hoarding/black marketing. Non domestic supplies from imported LPG is being prioritised to essential non domestic sectors such as Hospitals and Educational institutions. For LPG supply to other non-domestic sectors, a committee of three EDs of OMCs have been constituted to review the representations for LPG supply to restaurants/hotels/other industries. @HardeepSPuri @Secretary_MoPNG @IndianOilcl @BPCLimited @HPCL
