The Government of Karnataka on May 13 formally withdrew its earlier uniform order and allowed students to wear limited traditional and religious symbols. “No student shall be denied entry to an educational institution, classroom, examination hall, or academic activities merely because they are wearing such limited traditional and customary symbols along with the prescribed uniform,” the new order stated. The order, issued by the Karnataka government under provisions of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983, immediately withdraws the government order dated February 5, 2022, which had triggered a nationwide political and legal controversy over hijabs in educational institutions. #Karnataka #HijabRow #SchoolUniformOrder #EducationPolicy #ReligiousFreedom #IndiaTodaySocial

In today’s India, where mainstream media bends to power and thrives on noise, independent journalism is not a choice, it’s a necessity. We need voices that don’t please the majority but speak truth to power. That’s why I support Maktoob Media: it uplifts voices with honesty, dignity, and courage. It tells the stories that others ignore and stands where justice demands it. When I was a victim of the hijab ban in Karnataka, I saw how mainstream media chose controversy over truth. Maktoob was one of the very few platforms that made us feel heard and represented. Supporting Maktoob means supporting truth, justice, and the right of people to be informed without bias or fear.
