I hope it okay to ask on Twitter: how does a single fish re-integrate into the original school of fish, after being stopped e.g. by a trap for a while? Do they re-enter at the same network location as before?

A former postoc in @RainerFriedri12 lab, @KuoHuaHuang1 receives the Ruth Chiquet Prize for Ingenuity. Kuo created a virtual reality tool to manipulate environment and behaviors in zebrafish, which could help study key mechanisms of brain function. Congrats! #FMIAnnualMeeting2021

Using viral approaches for zebrafish has always been difficult (AAVs don't work). Turns out that some viruses (HSV1 and rabies) can be used in zebrafish - if the fish are held at ~36°C. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

@ptrrupprecht So looking forward!! I think everybody will be happy to meet you!! and regarding the Wacom, it is easy to use and quite cheap. It takes a little while to get used to the visual feedback that comes from the screen, but not from the pen itsself, but that's not a problem :)

I'm exploring workflows to manually generate ground truth segmentation from @mesospim 3D light sheet data (eg, blood vessels). Currently using ITK-SNAP. Does anybody have experience with good tablets or pens to make this more user-friendly? Any advice would be appreciated!
