Congratulations to Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, GRV, on the successful conduct of ADC direct primaries across Lagos State. This is more than a primary election. It is a statement of resilience, consistency, and political organization. After 2023, many people expected the movement to fade, but today’s turnout, even under the rain, shows that the work has not been in vain. Lagos politics is changing quietly. When supporters come out peacefully to participate in direct primaries, they are not just voting for a candidate. They are validating a movement. They are saying that democracy must begin from within the party before it can be demanded from the state. That is why this moment matters. GRV has continued to show that politics is not only about election day. It is about staying with the people after the noise, building structures after disappointment, keeping hope alive after setbacks, and proving that a better Lagos is not just a slogan but a long-term project. For ADC in Lagos, this is a strong beginning. The party must now turn this energy into ward presence, community engagement, youth mobilization, women participation, policy messaging, and serious grassroots coordination across the state. Lagos needs a politics that is people-centered, transparent, inclusive, and future-facing. If ADC continues on this path, it can become the platform that gives Lagosians a credible alternative. Congratulations to GRV, his supporters, and the ADC family in Lagos. The message is simple: the movement is alive, the work continues, and Lagos is watching.

African Democratic Congress
21 MAY 2025 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRESS STATEMENT ADC WELCOMES COURT JUDGEMENT ON INEC REGULATION The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed the ruling of a Federal High Court in Abuja on the deadline for party primaries, among others. In a statement released in Abuja on Thursday evening, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said it views the ruling as vindication of its vehement objections to key aspects of the electoral body's guidelines at the time they were issued. The ADC also recalled its specific objections to the strict timelines on membership registration, as well as the conduct of party primaries. "The decision of the Court on these issues, including those that directly contradict the Constitution, is therefore a welcome vindication of our position," the party said. The party also said the ruling, which removes the impediment placed by the guidelines on politicians who wish to seek alternative platforms to contest elections, was a positive development that promotes freedom of association. "We believed at the time that that particular restriction was designed to prevent people from leaving the ruling party, APC. Now that the court has ruled against it, we are sure that, in the coming days, we will witness a mass exodus from the ruling party." Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi National Publicity Secretary ADC

Kano is not just another stop on the campaign map. Kano is the political heartbeat of the North, and when H.E. Rotimi Amaechi touches down for direct consultations with ADC leaders and stakeholders, it sends a clear message: this presidential race is getting serious. In Nigerian politics, Kano is not a state you visit casually. Kano tests your structure. Kano tests your message. Kano tests your acceptability. Kano tests whether your ambition can move beyond Abuja conversations and enter the real field of political calculation. Amaechi’s arrival in Kano ahead of the ADC presidential primaries shows that he understands the assignment. Primaries are not won by slogans alone. They are won through consultation, persuasion, stakeholder engagement, delegate confidence, grassroots contact, and the ability to convince party leaders that you can carry the flag into a national election. This is where Amaechi’s political experience matters. He knows that power is not built only on media visibility. It is built by entering rooms, listening to leaders, respecting structures, and speaking directly to those who control the pulse of the party at state level. Kano will be critical for ADC. Any serious national movement must have a strong northern strategy, and Kano sits at the centre of that conversation. The state has numbers, energy, political consciousness, and a history of shaking presidential calculations. For Amaechi, this is an opportunity to make his case: experience, toughness, infrastructure record, national exposure, and the confidence to confront APC in 2027. The consultation has started. The ground game is moving. The ADC presidential race is no longer theory. Amaechi has touched down in Kano, and the conversation has entered serious territory.

Earlier today, my wife, Joke, and I joined fellow party members at Ward E3, Eiyekole, St Stephen School, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, to cast our votes for @drobafemihamzat in the APC governorship primary election. It was inspiring to see the strong turnout from everyone who came out peacefully to exercise their democratic rights with unity and commitment.
