Loved this. Cried through the last 100 pages but that’s probably because I’ve got Covid which is making me weepy. The story unfolds over seven decades (1940-2010) & several continents and I never wanted it to end.

@joshbythesea It’s not particularly saddening. It’s inevitable. Soho is for tourists. There are quicker, cheaper places to get lunch & most supermarkets sell fresh pasta.

A fond, and sad farewell to I Camisa & Son, which will close on August 3. A beautiful Italian deli with excellent sandwiches and fine produce. Trading in Soho since 1929 — an institution. I hope a new location is found. 🇮🇹🥪🍷

Much to like in the Govt scheme to expand Cambridge, a city with acute housing need and a devastating shortage of laboratory space. It would be entirely possible to add a dense, car-independent, traditional quarter - and, somewhat amazingly, it seems this is what they want to do.

Today @michaelgove announced plans for a Cambridge New Quarter to boost UK prosperity and create desperately needed new homes. We would argue passionately that this should be beautiful and sustainable, a network of streets & squares, homes, offices and labs - a lovely place to live, work and play
