Got stuck at 6cm with each and ended up with c-sec with both. After 18-24 hours of increasing pitocin every 30min, and non-working epidurals, I was DONE!! 2nd csec was SO scary

MRIs are available for hundreds of thousands, if not more pts who have previously undergone an ESI. It really shouldn’t be hard to sample them. Even better would be to look at MRI pre and post MRI. I have two such MRIs & the diff is shocking.

Personally, I was fine with both of my labors without an epidural....until they started the pitocin. I swear, it’s the devils juice. Such horrendous pain that didn’t relent. So, I think medical interventions do sometimes cause women to need an epidural.

A quick google and it appears they do target nerve roots but it’s still unclear to me how close to the cord they generally get.

I know that mine wasn’t. Additionally, Pfizer asked the FDA to ban depomedrol from being used in ESIs due to the high volume of adverse effects. This itself is telling.
