It’s this sort of ridiculous opinion that offers nothing in terms of insight and is detrimental to the athlete. Morgan or McEnroe don’t have the faintest idea what was wrong Raducuna. It’s just speculation to fit a false narrative about what ‘toughness’ in sport actually is

McEnroe told the truth. Ms Raducuna’s a talented player but couldn’t handle the pressure & quit when she was losing badly. Not ‘brave’, just a shame. If I were her, I’d tell my fans to stop abusing McEnroe, & seek his advice on how to toughen up & become a champion like he was.

@prodnose I don’t accept the old argument that ‘you can’t practise them, because you can’t replicate the pressure of a penalty shoot out.’ With that logic you’d never do any training for anything. Surely if you’ve practised something a thousand times, you’re more likely to get it right?
