A moving tribute at Moshav Nevatim 🇮🇳🤝🇮🇱 The statue of Maharaja Jam Saheb of Nawanagar (Gujarat) was unveiled in Nevatim honouring his exemplary compassion during World War-II. He adopted hundreds of Polish children including Jewish children and built a home for them in 1942 at "Balachadi". It saved these children from the horrors of World War II. Amb. JP Singh recalled the “Good Maharaja’s” compassion — a beacon of hope reminding us that humanity rises above all boundaries. Amb also lauded tireless work of scholars & volunteers of Indian Jewish Heritage Center(IJHC) and Cochini Jewish Heritage Center(CJHC) which keeps our shared heritage alive. VIDEO | In a moving tribute to Maharaja Jam Saheb of Nawanagar (Gujarat), described by many as the "Indian Schindler", a statue of the legendary figure was unveiled in this southern Moshav (community of farmers) in recognition of his efforts to rescue hapless Polish Children during World War II, including some Jews. Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji of Nawanagar, a princely state in India (now called as Jamnagar in the state of Gujarat), was honoured by Indian Jewish Heritage Center(IJHC) and Cochini Jewish Heritage Center(CJHC) on Monday evening for his 'exemplary compassion' during the war. DCM Mr. Sarvjeet Soodan represented @indembtel at the 3rd Annual LILA Project Conference @UofHaifa, co-hosted by the Indian Jewish Heritage Center (IJHC). The conference brought together historians, scholars and community leaders to celebrate the living heritage of Indian Jewish communities. It was a privilege to hear Mayor of Haifa, Mr. Yona Yahav, and distinguished speakers reflect on the enduring India–Israel bonds and the community’s role in strengthening this friendship. The event also paid tribute to Or Moses and Gil Daniels — brave soldiers of Indian Jewish descent who gave their lives on and after October 7, 2023.

The annual Lila Conference at @UofHaifa co-hosted by the Indian Jewish Heritage Center (IJHC) is a meaningful way to connect to the #Indian #Jewish community in #Israel in an academic context - AND in #Hebrew - bringing experts, scholars, & community members together. 🇮🇱🇮🇳

An excellent meeting with FM @gidonsaar of Israel today in New Delhi. Productive discussions on strengthening our Strategic Partnership across various domains. Reaffirmed our zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Appreciate FM Sa’ar sharing the Israeli perspective on developments in the region, the Gaza Peace Plan and efforts to build a durable and lasting solution. Also exchanged views on our cooperation in multilateral fora. And witnessed the exchange of MoU on Training between @SSIFS_MEA and @IsraelMFA 🇮🇳 🇮🇱

I thank my friend External Affairs Minister of India @DrSJaishankar for the gracious hospitality in New Delhi. We had a fruitful discussion on bilateral relations and the mutual threat of terror. I stressed that dismantling the Hamas terror state is at the heart of the Trump Plan and we won't compromise on it. Israel is a regional powerhouse and a thriving democracy. India is a global superpower, the world's largest democracy and fastest growing economy. Our goal is to build a long-term strategic partnership between our nations. We will get it done! 🇮🇱🇮🇳

Yesterday, alongside 50 incredible individuals, I had the honor of being recognized by the Israeli Parliament for our efforts in defending Israel, standing up for the truth, and championing what is right. A heartfelt thanks to Member of Knesset @dillouz for spearheading this initiative and taking a moment to acknowledge the contributions made on behalf of Israel. On a personal note, as a new immigrant to Israel from Belgium, having witnessed the harsh realities of antisemitism and anti-Zionism, I chose to dedicate my life to the Jewish people. Being recognized today for the impactful work of @CombatASemitism over the past years is profoundly moving for me. Congratulations to all the other honorees!

While I’m in the U.S. sharing Israel’s truth with the world, the parliament of Israel (Knesset) honored me with an award for my work during the war. But let me tell you—the real hero is my wife India. She accepted the award on my behalf at the ceremony, hosted by MK Dan Illouz and the Knesset Caucus for Public Diplomacy.
