I’ve been doing some self work to eliminate #ableist language from my vocabulary. It is telling how much I’ve used terms related to mental illness when describing something so awful I can’t fathom it. The correct “c” word here is criminal. This is criminal. #COVID19

I learned about the ways modern medicine can catalyze mental health crises the hard way. Wrote about it too. The generous responses I've received from other health care professionals who've experienced something similar tell me it's more widespread than people think.

Getting mental health care can be shameful and a career killer for a physician. That needs to change. We also know that COVID has neuropsychiatric effects but do not acknowledge that in return to work criteria. That needs to change.
