@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk 5) lastly, this is a debated passage in a list of greetings. It was hardly Paul’s desire we derive our church polity from it. 6) 1 Tim. 2:11-12 is written so the church would know how to function. We should derive our polity from such clear passages.

@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk 4) even if I granted all of that, it doesn’t prove point. If my church sends out a couple as missionaries. They are both sent missionaries. But it doesn’t necessarily follow she is planting churches and pastoring.

Dr. Meredith Stone is the head of “Baptist Women in Ministry.” She announces her opposition to the Truth & Unity Amendment, suggesting that it “berates” women. Her words are a massive distortion of Scripture. We need to pass this amendment.

@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk I didn’t say that. And I admit there is some grey area. But I don’t think a woman should disciple a man. (It seems in this context we are talking one on one so I don’t think a man should disciple a woman not his wife or daughter one on one either to be safe)

@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk What do you mean an argument of convenience? That street goes both ways. If you want there to be a female apostle in the Bible you take your position. The text is not definitive. There are multiple uses of the Greek preposition.

@Athomp1995 @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk So if she shares the gospel with an unbelieving man she then has to drop him and refer him to another male for instruction? Why not just send a man then in that case?

@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk Also, I think women can be sent as missionaries by churches and share gospel with unbelieving men. She could be an apostle in that sense. Not the same as a church planter or pastor or functioning with authority in the church.

@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk Sorry. To answer your question: no a woman will not be sent by God to preach. God will not contradict his word. An apostle doesn’t not always imply one sent by God to preach in the NT.

@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk Because the assumption you just made is that a “sent one” is the same as an elder/overseer/pastor when it does not mean the same thing. You are making equivalences that the Bible does not. It’s an unfounded conclusion.

@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk What? You are the one applying an eschatological text about Christians judging angels to qualifications for ministry. Huge leap. Also it doesn’t work. For example: Christian kids will judge angels. Do really you think they should be hamstringed by submission to their parents?

@ryanschatz @salthenurse08 @DennyBurk I don’t think this works because heretics aren’t saved by having kids. I think “she” in 15 is either Eve or “a woman” from verse 11. But I don’t think the “will be saved” is referring to becoming a Christian, but final salvation. Doesn’t impact 11-14’s argument either way.

@salthenurse08 @ryanschatz @DennyBurk I wasn’t trying to disprove anything. I was just making sure that when I take the time to read it we are playing by the same rules. You have made a lot of assumptions about me that aren’t true. Not very kind.
