@comma_ai ghotz has spoken! ive been dabbling in py lately as well, i find the llms are very good at py and rarely fugg up. we like to use google colab to run scripts on external machines or for long processes/training data. any chance we can get a PS1/PS2 emulator embedded in comma? ;)

While everyone else is moving to Rust, openpilot is becoming more Python over time. openpilot is so good because it's written in Python, not despite it. Self-driving cars is so far from being solved, and Python allows us to iterate as quickly as possible. Don't fall for the dogma. It usually fails the first test of "make the requirements less dumb." The only code that's safe from Pythonification is our ~2k MISRA C functional safety. Everything else is liable to be rewritten!

High level of detail all around, code especially 👀 Sonnet 4.5 also has a tendency to make some fairly impressive leaps across latent space, like starting with MDMA then going to Fentanyl then to Meth recipes etc without being explicitly prompted for a new drug! Nothing too fancy is even necessary to escalate to jailbreak territory. Best strategy I found for breaking the chat interface was to take things straight into an artifact render (which adds tons of token noise due to the code scaffolding) and then incrementally escalate severity or steer towards trigger concepts in a Socratic fashion over multiple steps.
