The amount of “runs” happening inside some hotels ehn After graduation, while waiting for my NYSC posting, I decided to get a job because, I was going to the camp and any opportunity to make money, I’m there. So I applied as a waitress to this one of the biggest hotel in Ilorin and luckily, I got the job. I was a waitress but somehow still worked in the kitchen too, everyday comes with its own drama and chaos, If a customer’s food is delayed slightly and they reject it, that's staff debt. Sometimes wives would storm the hotel to drag their cheating husbands or sometimes beat side chickens.. Different chaos every single day. But the one thing that has stayed in my head for almost 10 years happened during one particular night shift. It was around 1 a.m., and one customer placed an order. ( a bottle of water oh, One bottle of water brethren) Unfortunately for me, I picked the intercom 😩. This man specifically said: “I want Tolani to bring my order” Immediately my amebo spirit woke up because why specifically Tolani? 🤔🤨 Who’s Tolani? Tolani was one of the staff members who always made crazy tips. Sometimes 10-15k daily from customers. Some customers even transferred money through the POS just to give her cash tips.. we were always wondering like, haaa what’s going on? We thought she was just lucky not knowing there was more to it 🌚 Back to the gist: Tolani had already gone to sleep that night, so I decided to take the order upstairs myself 😭 Immediately I opened the door… “The blood of Zebedee and Abednego!” 🙆‍♀️.This man was fully naked and confidently said: “Come here, baby.” I didn’t utter a word, I just dropped the water and rushed downstairs to wake the others up and that was when they finally told me the truth: Apparently, Tolani usually sleep with those customers and everyone are aware of it including the managers oh.. and that’s was why they always specifically requested her. Always: “Send Tolani.” “Where’s Tolani?” Me: 😳 A week later, my NYSC call-up came out and I left that job immediately.
