A good friend recently received a potentially life-threatening diagnosis. For years, we had been BS’ing about projects we wanted to do together—but took our time getting around to them. Truly nothing more focusing or grounding than staring the end straight in the eye.

One of the great myths we must dispel is that academic medical centers are the end-all and be-all for great medical care. They certainly are amazing institutions and have their place. But plenty of great medicine, sometimes better medicine, being practiced elsewhere.
