@BeaufortStyrian @Martyupnorth Just a reminder, black bears can savage and kill adult humans, easily and for laughs if they felt like it. Black bears can also be very unpredictable so don't try and FAFO stories about how they will 'run away' if you scare them enough.

Martyupnorth®- Unacceptable Fact Checker
Around 7% of American men say they think they could win an unarmed fight against a grizzly bear. This comes from a 2021 YouGov survey of U.S. adults asking which wild animals respondents believed they could defeat in a bare-handed fight. Grizzly bears ranked among the least winnable matchups. Grizzlies reach sexual maturity around 4–8 years (often ~5–6 for females) and are considered nearly full-grown by 5–8 years, though males continue growing slowly into their teens. A typical adult male is 300-400 lbs. One swipe with their giant claws would rip a man to shreds. Grizzly bear hide is exceptionally thick—often described as up to about 1 inch in key areas like the neck and shoulders—plus a substantial layer of subcutaneous fat that can reach 4 inches or more. Stabbing a grizzly with a pocket knife won't do a thing.

@RandysVinylTap I saw BTO open for Van Halen a long time ago. Fantastic set. During intermission the guys took seats a few rows back (center stage) and watched VH like the rest of us fans. At least it sure looked like them, maybe Randy can verify. Very cool. Very down to earth.

@BeaufortStyrian @joshrothkopf Thank you. I've been saying since they announced her as their drummer that they're in good hands. People told me I didn't know what I was talking about - and not one of them even took a minute to look up her work on YouTube. I knew she'd shut them up when it mattered.

Listen to the way the crowd responds to drummer Anika Nilles during the solo section of “Tom Sawyer” at Rush last night. A huge arrival.

@15poundstogo Arm swing is more important to walking/running than people know. Ask any PT. Just a guess but I'd say it has something to do at least in part with upper body flexibility.

Weird question. Dudes walk and their arms move maybe 6 to 12 inches. Some women swing their arms 18 or more inches. What’s that all about? Biology? Or trying to get attention?

@TheChewDefense @joshrothkopf They were ignorant - and I mean that in the literal sense, not as a pejorative. My first guess was Portnoy but that would have been really too "on the nose." Better to get a phenom from a different genre.

People use way too many sci-fi tropes and references to inform their thinking and it really shows. If you do insist on doing so, at least use gibson, stephenson, etc and not dune ffs.

@oldhockeycards Anika Niles is WAY more than talented enough to play this. It's more about the moment - and the chemistry.

@RonDeSantis She's the perfect choice. I figured they'd get Mike Portnoy - him being a Rush fanatic since a kid and then later a good friend of Neil's - but that would have been too "on the nose." BTW, she's WAY more than talented enough to play this. It's more about the moment.

@BizballMaury @Infohobo I've seen this ridiculous argument many times before, too. I guess people think songwriting is a spontaneous live process, recorded right then and there. 😆

@Infohobo Short of holding a seance you’re not getting that. Also… You do know that Alex has to learn his solos after each album because he comps like 5 solos and then the band and producer pull together the best parts of what he jammed into what you hear on the record. That “cheating”?
