@DavisPaipa 67 reviews after 5 years. I hired a full-time support, but it's still hard. Most merchants expect good support to be basic. They won't spend a minute writing a review. I always suspect other players using dark patterns but I have no proof. Shopify doesn't care about this so far

This Shopify app was clearly buying fake 5-star reviews and then didn't pay someone, so they got spammed with 1-star reviews instead which tanked their rating to 2.9 🤣 I have no idea how it passed through Shopify review approval system and got published. Anyone else feeling the new review purge coming? 🤣

@malisauskasLT Many new apps have used this formula for a long time. If not using shady tactics, I can't understand why they can grow reviews so fast Btw, you didn't mention copying existing app names, farming a lot of similar threads on the Shopify community.

How to get rich in Shopify App Store in 6 months: 1. Create a single-feature free Shopify app (feel free to copy some popular app). 2. Use only keywords for your app name, no branding. 3. Farm reviews in the most shady way possible (see attached screenshot for inspiration). 4. Get the Built for Shopify badge somehow anyway. 5. Once the app reaches the top of the rankings, introduce pricing. 6. If executed correctly, $10K MRR is bare minimum. Apparently the worst thing that could happen, app gets delisted for couple of weeks and you're told to get rid of these tactics, but by that time you will probably have hundreds of 5-star reviews and great ranking in the App Store which gets you organic growth and you can work it from there. This company has been doing this among all of their 8 apps since February and their reviews/rankings skyrocketed. I'm pretty sure they're getting thousands of installs every month now. They already rank #1 for some keywords so I'm sure monetization is just around the corner 😅 @ShopifyDevs @liam_at_shopify @atleeclark I think it's becoming very clear that we need much stricter policies, especially with hundreds new apps published every week. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Shopify should upgrade the theme app extension. I don't see any major updates since it was launched a few years ago. The hard limits have all been the same over the years. I don't think this architecture is scalable in the future, especially for the app blocks

@kmichaelhall The Slack channel and the dev community are repeated. I don't want more spam from the channel. This is a good decision.

Truly the end of an era as Shopify Partner Slack is being sunsetted. So many relationships formed here over the past 6 years. It's true that the value has diminished greatly over the past few years as the channel's been inundated with spammers, but good things were still happening and I'll greatly miss the regulars there who contributed so much.

Contemplating to incorporate in Singapore, tax rate wise (even factoring the cosec / accounting cost), seems to cost lesser than compared in Malaysia (my country, located just beside Singapore)

@hunkybill The current CLI approach is very unreliable. A minor version upgrade may break the deploy pipeline. Very often, I don't know whether I should upgrade CLI or not because this upgrade is too risky. I upgraded my CLI yesterday and broke the dev mode accidentally.

I reacted with a bit of shock today when I attempted to connect to a Shopify App in my partner account, and the disconnection notice informed me my CLI at version 3.84 was not good enough. So I updated to 3.85, and yay, it worked. But man. Breaking my balls at 0.01 versions?

The new Admin Intents API is working quite well. It saves users from the hassle to move between the app and other parts in the Shopify admin. Also easy to implement. Nice works!
