They are proposing in August that we put just a general election up for Supreme Court justices in Kansas. This will have the effect of having hyperpartisanship. We will not be able to have impartial justices in any way.

@BigBengtson @thistle_ki35141 @TyMastersonKS But it is still partisan. Our current court is made up of almost entirely liberal justices. I’d prefer that we have a judicial review and then vote on the candidates rather than have the Gov select the one who will rule with what they prefer.

However before that there is an entire screening and vetting process done by competent and capable lawyers in the state that actually determine the individuals being put before the governor are qualified.

So depending on whether a Dem or a Republican is in office, determines who goes on the court. The people have no say unless there is a campaign to remove them. That never happens. They stay forever.

@CyanStevie @TyMastersonKS Even if it gets you exactly what you want, a total abortion ban, it will be bad for the state overall as those hyperpartisan, extremely corrupt, bribable officials tank our state. We already have @TyMastersonKS taking bribes and meals, we don't need corrupt judges too.

@CyanStevie @TyMastersonKS After the constitutional amendment failed a couple of years ago, they are now trying to remove the people who interpret the Constitution and install hyperpartisan hacks in their place.

@BigBengtson @thistle_ki35141 @TyMastersonKS Only 17 states use a judicial commission. Twenty one states elect judges. What Kansas is suggesting is not new. It is letting the people decide who they want. Most states have justices run without a party affiliation. Ourcurrent system has every justice with a party affiliation.
