They can shut byler down all they want but Mike is queer coded within the shows subtext, this is not how you write a straight character, if you look at the way the other members of the party present their sexuality it is clear from the beginning, their security in it stays intact the entirety of the show but when it comes to Mike you question it, Lucas and Dustin are written to be straight. Where Mike differs from them is the way he behaves toward Will and the way he treats with his girlfriend, it’s especially prevalent in the way that he interacts with Will and the way the world reacts to their close relationship as best friends, the bullies targeting Mike while talking about Will or his parents too, all of these factors queer code him. They can deny all they want but they can’t rewrite the past.
