Great meeting with @jumuiya to introduce the REST-GLR initiative — advancing resilient trade and socio-economic integration as a pathway to peace in the Great Lakes Region. We discussed strengthening regional collaboration on cross-border trade, mobility, and peacebuilding.

Today, I met with the Special Envoy for @un_greatlakes Huang Xia to advance @UNDPAfrica’s offer on the #RESTGLR initiative. Our discussion focused on strengthening governance, social cohesion, cross-border resilience, and deepening collaboration for coordinated regional action.

Cross-border integration, trade, and cooperative governance for borderland communities remain critical for regional development. UNDP RH director @ZeynuUmmer and @BolajiKA met with @jumuiya SG to reaffirm our commitment to making this actionable across the Great Lakes region.

Today, we commissioned the Griftu Water Supply Project in Kenya’s Wajir County—a solar-powered, climate-resilient system co-developed with @UNICEFKenya. It brings safe water to over 9,000 people and livestock, while strengthening the local water utility of Wajir.
