Working on atmosphere and immersion 🕯️ Thinking about replacing the candle with a flashlight In a dark room, a flickering flame is one thing… but a flashlight beam revealing things you’d rather not see is something else entirely 👀 #gamedev #indiedev #puzzle #horror #indiegame

Refined the interactive system 🕯️ Items now have an extra action when you hold them in your hands. Seems like a small thing… but examining objects can lead to unexpected surprises. What surprises will you find in the dark? 👀 #gamedev #indiedev #puzzle #horror #indiegame

@starhoundstudio I tried doing it purely through code, but due to the specifics of player control, the player could throw important key items through textures — and that's not allowed

@BrokenGamesO That's the genre's sweet spot, pure kinematic feels floaty, pure physics feels janky. The hybrid gives you player agency with environmental resistance. Best of both worlds for examination-heavy gameplay.

@starhoundstudio Both. I move the object directly with code. I use physics so the object can collide with other things while the player is holding it

@BrokenGamesO "Drag, rotate, and poke" is the perfect verb set for investigative horror....the tactile interaction is half the immersion. The candle-and-documents staging is already telling a story. Are you running on physics or kinematic for the held objects?

The game is called "I Have No Change". It's an atmospheric game where you're a vendor in a kiosk. The game is imbued with a sense of something familiar and dear. It evoked that feeling in me. There's a playtest on Steam right now. #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev

@AadzeNomad I think it will be possible to find a solution, but it seems to me it will take more time

this indie developer is making a dark fantasy action rogue-lite drawing upon the Wizard of Oz, so here's a look at some of the lighting powers in the game. It's called The Ashen OZ, have you wishlisted the game?
