@rpmpa @OrevaZSN @briebriejoy How do you know this? Have you talked to ppl w/ special needs? Are you one?
They, like most ppl, want a chance to get out and to socialize and feel productive. They also want more than the basics.
Imagine how much more productive we’d be if ppl actually wanted to be there
English

@rpmpa @OrevaZSN @briebriejoy You are wrong. The world that exists today has purposely put barriers in place of people achieving the needs on Maslow's hierarchy specifically to create an endless supply of labour for capitalism.
English

@monarchist_tory How are people so uninformed about the world? The reason so many countries back Israel regardless of their atrocities is because they are a global innovation hub. Innovation creates billionaires contrary to the belief that billionaires are made by exploiting people
English

@BladeoftheS So you think boomer CEOs want to work from the office so that billionaires can become rich?
English

Office buildings are almost always rented rather than owned.
All the Landlords are billionaires.
No worky work at work, they miss out on huge profits.
Govind@Govindtwtt
why do boomer CEOs hate remote work?
English

@Sheridanblog You’re an idiot. LeBron is very close to all of them offensively and on a completely different tier to them defensively. The game is not only about scoring points
English

@TheCaseForkobe1 @TheDunkCentral Ok but how come they weren’t able to make it to the finals as often as LeBron regardless of which team he played for?
English

Question for people that think Lebron is the goat.
Mj, Kareem, Kobe & Russell, have a combined 28-7
finals record. 80% win rate. Why is it that those players almost always won, once they got to the finals. They didn't always get to the finals, but when they got to the finals they won. Why is that.
English

LeBron is confused as to why people would rather see him lose in the first round or miss the playoffs than lose in the Finals.
"Like, people will really rather you not make the playoffs or lose in the first round than to lose in the Finals, which is crazy to me. And I almost feel like, is it because it's me? Everybody has to say something about my career: 'Oh, well, he made eight straight Finals, but he was only able to win three.' 'He's the leading scorer in NBA history, but he's played 23 years.'"

@Mounlexzyy Engagement bait without the blue tick. Just for the love of the game
English

But wait how Giggs won 13 premier league titles for just one club😳
I don’t think any player is going to come close to that record
Idris 🧠🗣️@1drizz
Most league won by a player in the top 5 league
English

@Coho29415979 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston Wtf are you talking about? What artificial reputation? I’m talking about reputation built over years of proving yourself, be it at the same company or another company. You live in your little delusional world
English

@BukayoMode @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston No its not how it works actually. Reputation is one real aspect, but we're talking about an artificial reputation - an aggrandisement feedback loop if you will. That is not always helpful; it CAN be I suppose where a patticuar organisation needs a personality cult for branding.
English

@Coho29415979 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston If you’re saying some CEOs get higher salaries because of their reputation, you’re right. Isn’t that how it should work? That’s how everything in the world works tbh. Reputation is built based on your achievements and quality
English

@BukayoMode @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston That last sentence explains CEO overpayment. It increases investor confidence like "Stars" increase a film's credibility.
Its damaging economically for similar reasons as the Star system is damaging culturally; excellent talent can get overshadowed by an overhyped "good" one.
English

@Coho29415979 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston My literal job is hiring senior leaders. No big organisation is letting an incompetent CEO stay in the role for a long time. You won’t believe how fast investors lose faith when boards make poor CEO appointments.
English

@BukayoMode @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston Not really. Big organisations are run by teams. Incompetent or inappropriate CEOs are hardly unusual but they get carried by the team as the price of coherence.
They play up CEO value like the film industry creates "Stars". It draws makes everyone feel secure Superman is there.
English

@Coho29415979 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston Mate I’m talking about preference. 9 times out of 10 you would go with the experienced industry hire. A board’s mandate is to minimise risk when making critical appointments. Bringing in a CEO with no industry experience at all is a big risk. So is one with no large CEO exp
English

@BukayoMode @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston Absolutely, yes. New blood and transferable skills are very often whats required. T other tomes deep knoskedge and experience ARE at a premium.
It depends on the situation. I would NOT someone with fixed immutable ideas about what is required be it leadership or anything else.
English

@Coho29415979 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston What do you mean it doesn’t diminish? So if you owned a £2bn technology business, would you bring someone in from a £50mn technology business as CEO? Or even someone from a £2bn food business as CEO?
English

@BukayoMode @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston No it doesn't diminish. The pool stays the same and there is not *one* best candidate at all. As situations change different skills become needed so whoever was best yesterday may be suboptimal today. That's why it's better to have diverse boards, broader skillsets:
.
English

@Coho29415979 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston To become a CEO of a large corporation, you need to be part of that 10%. Then you need to have decades of experience, that experience needs to be in a relevant industry, then you need to know how to manage boards, investors etc. and 20 other things.See how that number diminishes?
English

@BukayoMode @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston Yiu're right of course, but I wanted to keep numbers tight and the criteria defined.
About 1 in 10 people (10%) are said to possess "natural, high-level talent" (whatever that is) to manage and lead effectively.
English

@Coho29415979 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston Do you think high IQ means great management skills? It’s actually rare that individuals with extremely high IQ are also great leaders.
English

@OgdenSplendid @WillKingston Running Tesco *is* middle management! Its a fucking grocery shop ffs, not a Moonshot.
Out of a population of 67 million we have 1.34 million people IQ>130. Probably 80% of them would be competent to do that job. Put it out to competetive tender the way Tesco treat suppliers.
English

@Coho29415979 @FullFridge2 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston 3 internal candidates available to replace a CEO is the sign of an incredible outgoing CEO. You’ll be shocked to hear how few internal candidates are there when replacing long term CEOs. Also yes there are a lot of good CEOs, but there are also a lot of big companies
English

@FullFridge2 @OgdenSplendid @WillKingston At my last big commercial job there were at least 3 serioys internal candidates to replace the old retiring CEO. (Thats without any externals.
Of over a million IQ>130 people in the UK, probably most have the other vital skills. Its a massive pool.
CEOs are "Veblen Goods".
English

@John1rb @Obsessed_Moron @clivelewishmfc @drgerke1 Yes the convo is about established company CEOs. The CEO of a large company doesn’t have 100% autonomy on decision making. Managing expectations is a big part of the job. 99% of the people on x talking about it being an easy job won’t know how to manage 1 board member forget 5-7
English

@BukayoMode @Obsessed_Moron @clivelewishmfc @drgerke1 Worrying about shareholders comes after youre already established. Cause then you aren't in full control of the operations and have to dilly dally while the old people jerk each other off and now the game they decided on is months late for release. See concord
English

@Jimbobwalton12 @DanNeidle @julianHjessop @PolitlcsUK Millions of delusional people will say they will take it and genuinely believe they can do it even though the only job they have held is as a retail employee stacking shelves
English

@DanNeidle @julianHjessop @PolitlcsUK Dam, as a thought experiment, do a poll to see how many would take CEO of Tesco job for £250k.
I'd be interested to see. That job would terrifying me and most sane people because we know how inadequate to execute it and the risks for many many jobs.
English

@Shut_the_fridge @fraudzorooo Do you think just anyone can come in and make deals worth millions of dollars?
English

@fraudzorooo Hence 10x the pay mate. A CEO will make those deals regardless.
English

How the hell can you support the kinds of pay gaps in corporations today?
Think about someone getting paid 150 x your income.
It's obscene.
Helen Staniland@helenstaniland
It's insane. The highest paid aren't going to take pay cuts, and big companies aren't going to pay their mailroom staff 100K. They'll relocate and take their tax payments with them. I'm really shocked at the politics of envy we've seen over this.
English

@hgreen81 @naathanw @icenianV7 @WillKingston So you think it’s scandalous that companies promote internally? Shocking companies want leaders who have been with the business for several years and know it in and out.
English

@naathanw @icenianV7 @WillKingston Track record? Most don’t have a track record. 75% of CEOs are internal appointees. It’s a racket.
English

@theAmanda_Jules @BukayoMode @drgerke1 Oh ok so a totally rational move from capping salaries to public murder
We stopped doing that years ago but I guess some people never grew up
