Almost five years ago, together we began to change our Union. We took our Union 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 - back to our reps and members. We uncovered the truth around the wrongdoing and alleged fraud surrounding the Birmingham hotel and conference centre. And we have redefined our relationship with Labour. 𝐍𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬. And together we have delivered hundreds of millions of pounds back into the pockets of members from successful disputes alone. Profiteers exposed. Cash to politicians cut. Winter fuel campaign won. Our thoughts go out to Sergei Krajev’s family. A father, husband and grandfather, who went out to work and did not come home.
@TfL needs to take immediate action to ensure the safety of all bus workers. No bus worker should be subjected to violence whilst carrying out their duties.
TFL and the bus companies must now swiftly introduce training for drivers on how to respond and deal with violent confrontations.

***EXCLUSIVE*** Andy Burnham fully rules out changing Rachel Reeves’ fiscal rules if he becomes PM At the weekend his team had left it open whether he might change them in future But tonight his spokesperson tells Bloomberg he is explicitly ruling out any changes to the existing fiscal rules AND crucially Burnham is now also ruling out exempting defence spending from the fiscal rules to spend more on the military He had floated that idea in a Bloomberg interview a few weeks ago but his spokesperson tonight says he won’t pursue it This is a big attempt by Burnham’s campaign team to reassure markets who were spooked on Friday by his potential premiership But it may risk disappointing some on the left who had hoped for a more radical fiscal policy It may also mean tax rises are the likely main revenue raiser in the event Burnham wants to increase spending

Very good statement by @ZackPolanski:
Last week’s elections shows the country is crying out for a break from the failed status quo.
Keir Starmer has been unable and unwilling to break with an economic model that has fuelled the affordability crisis and this is why we have said he must go.
Whatever happens in the coming byelection, Andy Burnham will need to make clear which version of him is going to show up.
Is it the politician who has been part and parcel of the Labour establishment for decades, abstaining on legislation making brutal cuts to welfare, PFI and other Labour privatisations, or is it the one who has publicly supported proportional representation, been a popular Mayor in Manchester and expressed support to make changes to the failed economic model.
The country needs to know if Andy Burnham is serious about breaking out from the terrible orthodoxies from the past, or if he will just be more of the same.
