@UnofficialOA Not true at our school. I am a middle leader and our SLT let me have a huge part in deciding who we employ med in my department, every time I have secured who I wanted even if I went on with a different idea of how it would turn out.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but SLT knew exactly who they were going to appoint long before the interviews. #edutwitter

@CAP12314 We don't get everything right, and we are also finding behaviour tough just now, but we try as hard as we can to keep the bar high

For years teachers have been gaslit on behaviour by the Educational Intelligentsia. We've been told that it's not a big deal, and if it were a big deal it would be our fault for not being engaging enough or relatable enough or we don't understand trauma, or SEND or any host of other things that explain why students are misbehaving. The simple fact is, this intelligentsia have failed us. Teachers and leaders have not been properly trained in classroom strategies or policy implementation, and we have been actively encouraged to permit that which should be impermissible. We have been told to lower our expectations, and excuse and enable students' poor behaviour. The result of all this is a worsening national picture. As our critical public infrastructure continues to degrade, the cracks widen and flimsy or non-existent structures reach catastrophic failure. An already weak system is assailed by a host of new threats, and on its collapse a deluge of unacceptable behaviour pushes through. Personally, I've had enough. And I don't really care if you have a PhD or an army of other academics, conference presenters and citizen journalists egging you on. More power to those teachers and leaders taking a different stance - a stance that understands you can build a robust policy that protects students and teachers without being oppressive or fascistic. A system that can be concurrently warm and strict: tough, but fair and dignified. More power to them. To those who seek to pass off, minimise, contextualise or diminish: it's gaslighting nonsense, and I won't stand for it.

Does anyone remember their experiences of Ofsted when inspections lasted a week & also how things changed for you after the 2005 move to 2-day inspections? Would love to hear your views!

@popemaths We had full inspection last Wed and Thurs. In the deep dove he asked about the curriculum, how it is structured , how can I show it is ambitious, how can I show that prior learning is being used. I did an overview sheet of what I wanted him to know, he took it. It was fine.
