@kenny_levine @Cubies1986 @TheBlogfines Fwiw I think he definitely has a bit more value than Mervis, can really crush LHPs, and plays great defense from all 3 OF spots, but totally unreasonable to expect him to be more than a short side platoon bat in the MLB. Just don’t see it vs RHPs

Again, Alcantara isn't a solution. We really need to drill that home. More Conforto and giving Ramirez more of a look over some struggling guys, sure. If Alcantara is playing much for this team, it's because PCA got injured.

With each outing, I’m more and more encouraged by this version of Ben Brown. Anchored by an *elite* curveball, a new sinker, and a occasional changeup, he is one of 28 pitchers with at least 4 pitches 80th percentile or better in Effective Velo, and it’s an unreal list. #Cubs

@FullCountTommy Unfortunate people weight 2-3 miscues over all of the insane plays he makes look boring. Instead of questioning the validity of a metric, people should be realizing how much better he is than the normal “good defender”.

Being the best defender in the sport at a premium position while being a double plus baserunner is extremely valuable. And even though he’s struggled at times, he’s only been slightly below average offensively.

PCA is having a rough year so far. Going to discuss it on the show. The fact that he's on pace for like 6 WAR is where I just question the credibility of the stat slightly. He would tell you he hasn't been good. And yes, I get that he gets to baseballs others don't but come on.

The #Cubs were 2nd in fWAR produced by top 100 prospects in 2025. The last 5 years the system has produced: Isaac Paredes + Kyle Tucker Cabrera Horton Busch PCA Shaw Steele Mo Baller Ben Brown Palencia Hodge With 3-5 more top 100-150 prospects in baseball currently

@SamOlbur If I can meatball for a second Jed just simply hasn’t given this org enough since he’s been the guy. Farm hasn’t yielded nearly enough talent in 5 years. This cubs core just doesn’t have the juice. see it time and time again RISP wise. Brewers make things happen, cubs dont.

@roc0013 I’m sure your opinion would change a bit if Steele and Horton were their normal, healthy selves. While things seem bleak right now, organizationally they are really healthy in their farm, draft room, development, etc. while being 9 games above .500 at the MLB level!

@roc0013 As you should know, it’s extremely common for relievers to regress year to year, don’t think that’s a questionable move at all. Also, kinda proves my point on how good they are at creating tradeable assets in their farm. Cruz hurts, but none of those other ones do

@CHC_DataDrive Also it’s poor roster management. They didn’t need a 3b. They need pitchers and an outfielder. Last year Bregman basically got a 1 year. No one else is guaranteeing 5/175 for a short small lacking power 32 year old.
