My only question is why has the government not been able to track these bandits down? If an ordinary Nigerian speaks up against injustice, they will be tracked down. Why is the government not using the same energy to apprehend criminals?

You people should stop spreading fake news and causing unnecessary panic. Lectures were not cancelled in FUOYE and there was no bandit attack in Aiyebaju or Oye Ekiti. What FUOYE suspended were field trips and excursions, not lectures.

Lectures cancelled. Students of Federal University Oye-Ekiti have been told to stay indoors after bandits reportedly invaded Aiyegbaju and Oye Ekiti, while terrified parents are already calling their children back home. Nigeria is failing at a very fast pace.

BLOODY WEEKEND FOR ISWAP/BOKO HARAM ATTEMPT ON LOCATION IN KIRAWA AS HEAVY LOSSES INFLICTED ON THE TERRORISTS Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), under Operation DESERT SANITY and SIEGE OPERATIONS, have successfully thwarted attempted attack by suspected ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists on troops location in the Kirawa axis of Sector 1 OPHK Area of Responsibility in the early hours of 22 May 2026. A number of the suspected terrorists attempted to infiltrate positions held by troops of 153 Task Force Battalion and associated forces along the Nigeria–Cameroon border axis. The attack was swiftly detected and met with overwhelming firepower from alert troops and CJTF, who held their ground and contained the assault. The terrorists were forced to abort their mission and withdraw in confusion towards the Cameroon axis, sustaining heavy casualties during the engagement. Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance assets, alongside platforms of Air Component of OPHK and partner forces, provided coordinated support throughout the operation. Following the encounter, troops confirmed the neutralisation of 12 terrorists, while several others were observed retreating with gunshot wounds, as indicated by blood trails along their withdrawal routes. Recovered items include AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade systems, ammunition, and a PKT machine gun, further degrading the terrorists’ combat capability in the area. Troops of OPHK, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force, have maintained their positions with heightened vigilance while exploitation operations continue to track fleeing elements and recover additional materiel. The Joint Task Force reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to sustaining operational pressure on terrorist elements until they are completely neutralised across the theatre. The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, utmost professionalism, and swift response, the third in the week urging them to maintain the operational momentum in the collective interest of national security. I’ve spent the past couple of weeks building Looters: a public archive of Nigerian political corruption since the 1990s. Governors, ministers, shell companies, Swiss accounts, the Jersey trusts, — one searchable graph. You too can connect the dots: 1000reasons.vote/looters

DEFENCE HQ NIGERIA@DHQNigeria

DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS CLARIFIES MISCHIEVIOUS REPORTS, VOWS TO SUSTAIN OFFENSIVE ACTION AGAINST FLEEING TERRORISTS The attention of the Defence Headquarters has been drawn to a mischievous and misleading publication misrepresenting comments credited to the Defence Headquarters regarding the classification of terrorists and criminal elements operating within the South West of the country. For clarity, at no time did the Defence Headquarters undermine the authority of any democratically elected leader or sought to diminish the gravity of the heinous crime committed against innocent citizens by terrorist elements. The Armed Forces of Nigeria remain fully committed to supporting constitutional governance, protecting democratic institutions and working collaboratively with all levels of government to safeguard the nation. The clarification issued by the Defence Headquarters was solely to provide an intelligence-based context regarding the security in the South West, in order to prevent misinformation and public panic. The recent incidence of kidnap in Oyo State was clearly perpetrated by terrorists of the JAS Group that have been dislodged from other parts of the country due to high intensity operations being conducted all over. It is therefore inaccurate and misleading to suggest that the Defence Headquarters, at any point, referred to vicious and violent terrorists as criminals. Troops remain actively deployed across the affected areas in coordination with other security agencies and local stakeholders. The Armed Forces of Nigeria remains resolute in dismantling all criminal and terrorist networks threatening the peace, stability and unity of the nation. Signed MICHAEL ONOJA Major General Director, Defence Media Operations 21 May 2026

We only heard they were kidnapped, and we only heard they were released. How? They freed them free of charge. No terrorist was apprehended, no killings. But when your papa sees 2k, he will sell his vote. He go touch your family one day.

If you like, don’t talk to your parents to choose right. They kidnapped teachers in Oyo. In case you don’t know, it wasn’t bandits but terrorists according to Defence HQ. In case you don’t know the implication, Boko Haram started with the Chibok kidnapping in Borno.
