Only is the Midwest is your polling place the local Chevy dealer. I find it amusing and it’s the reason I like voting in person on Election Day.

I have never had to wait in line at my polling place no matter what time. This morning the line is at least 50 deep.

@maryrziegler I'm a historian of women's health. I work on a medical campus and I really hope that I can remain one of the few people who know about Comstock in detail.

@Dr_C_Thompson When something very similar happened in my class a few years ago I brought reward coffee for the next class.

This Oct. 31 are you 👻HAUNTED🦇🦇 you might not make it to vote? Here's a message from Dr. Davies on making a plan to do so (and how to check info on your polling place, registration status, ballot information or other election-related material).👇 unmc.edu/newsroom/2024/…

@aliciaandrz Getting an email at 3am from a student still in the hospital hours after she gave birth apologizing for it impacting her ability to finish the class was eye opening. I am now clear- whatever it is, we will figure it out, no student needs to worry about me while in the hospital.

I just had a student go to the ER for an appendectomy & they took the time to obtain & send a doctor's note to me—from the ER I wanted to respond, "who hurt you?" I trust my students. I'll say it again: I'd rather be duped 100 times than make one student in distress "prove" it.

I’m in South Africa and have been explaining where we live to so many people. Then today someone on our tour had actually been to Nebraska from Norway. Actually, she visited @unmc with others from her university. There were 4 people on this tour so wild to make that connection.

I don't remember a previous year when I was excited about so many of new MacArthur Fellows. Often one, maybe two, but this year there are so many whose work on gender I've used, taught, and recommended. It's so exciting to see this work recognized.

@Dr_C_Thompson I have shocked so many people with the knowledge that our maternity leave policy is really just up to the benevolence of your supervisor. But sure, let's talk about how we are going to integrate AI and VR, instead of dragging our policies into the 21st century.

I always know the agenda for our next board of regents meeting has dropped because there will be "breaking news" related to football or maybe athletics more broadly. Obviously the most important aspect of university business.

Listening to my co-workers do wordle at lunch it sounds so much like my English paleography workshop at @FolgerLibrary. Has anyone tried to capitalize on the popularity of word games to solve paleography puzzles?

@heatherfro I had the same realization when I had my first review at my first permanent, full-time position, a few years ago. Especially since my prior "goals" were shaped by an expectation of a different type of job.

I have recently been put in a situation (positive) where I am expected to have Career Goals and I am quickly realizing that my career goals were: 1. get a job✅ 2. enjoy whatever I was doing in the job✅

Was complimented today on how efficiently I completed a medical evaluation/questionnaire. I guess between being sick for two decades and working in medical humanities, I'm an expert in knowing what the questions are looking for.

An important part of mentoring is pointing out to young women that the leadership dynamic they think is “difficult” actually follows the exact patterns and tricks of an abusive partner. Putting that gender studies training to use.
