@LaheyHNIC No! FFS. What is this almost hero worship. Gillis did NOT build that team! Burke, Nonis! Sedins, Burrows, Luongo, Hansen, Bieksa, Edler, Salo, Keller, Raymond!!! In only 3 years made past 1st round, 1 year only beyond that! 1 Player through draft! Horvat...

@thealexblair @NHL Mike Gills did a couple of good things in Vancouver re: sleep science etc. As a GM he was an overly arrogant pr*ck to the fans and media and did next to nothing of note as he rode the coattails of the team he inherited into the ground That is why

Mike Gillis was very candid on @sekeresandprice. He broke down all the Leafs stuff. Doesn't sound like it ever got close. Outstanding line of questioning throughout the interview. Must watch for Leafs fans:

@canuckshotpuck @BluelineBardown He was an extremely inconsistent hockey player than that Gillis got suckered into overpaying and giving a NTC.

Regardless of the outcome of the Cassidy saga, why are we hearing names like Berube and Babcock? Why isn’t Bowman asking to interview Halpern (TBL), Woodcroft, Gruden (Marlies), and Nelson (PIT)? @Bob_Stauffer

@UncleLaleet Gillis? Talk about revisionist history. Go look up his trade history. He was gifted a great team and rode them into the ground. And was an utter arrogant pr*ck while he did it.

We threw the gauntlet at Peter Laviolette yesterday. He didn't back down. Asked him how his style fits the Leafs. His answer: “going hard, playing hard, time & space.” That’s the identity he believes wins.

@hockeysw How can you not be cynical. Look how Gillis was hired, and how only Florida would deal with him. It’s been one embarrassing incident after another since the Luongo-Schneider debacle. What’s next?

Apparently, I am the only person who has applied for another job in a different city, wasting time, effort and money, only to see the company hire an internal candidate - as going external was only a paper exercise to appease HR. Sucks to be me I guess.

What Gillis did 15 years ago is outdated and isn’t the best way today. If this management team wants to follow what worked 15 years ago, we’re in trouble. We need smart people who will innovate new ways and be ahead of the rest like Gillis was.

Not sure why people are talking about ties to Mike Gillis because he signed Mats Sundin when he ran the Canucks. That's false. Everyone knows that Sundin retired a Leaf in 2008.

@kaitalkscanucks It’s a known fact Gillis wasn’t a liked man around the league. He came across as arrogant to the point that before game 3 in Boston with a 2 game lead in the Finals he was boasting about how he had built a Stanley cup championship team. Well we all know how that ended.

We romanticize Gillis because of the cup run, but I have heard from pretty high up people with a seat at the table during his tenure that he wasn’t the best guy, and wasn’t well liked by staff. One person told me ‘he knew about 5 peoples names in the whole org.’

Kyper on Real Kyper & Bourne: - His line of thinking was that Gillis was putting his name out, he needed to control everything - He thinks the convos are already done that Matthews is coming back - He thinks star players get kept in the loop, no votes however on how things go

Always enjoy listening to Steve Peters. His take on Brad Treliving was particularly interesting especially his thoughts on the President of Hockey Operations role in the NHL.

Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will get 🌹🌹🌹thrown their way. But Marc Bergevin traded for Suzuki, drafted Caufield, Dobes, Ghule, and Struble who have made their contributions to the team’s rebuild and success. #GoHabsGo

Mike Gillis hired David Frost, then lied about it, then pulled a Roger Clemens and misremembered the whole thing. I wouldn’t spend a second considering him for Leafs GM job or any job for that matter.
