You can still, in modern times, create an entire series of entertaining fictional media by just playing those ideas and their attendant tropes completely straight. You can even just choose to focus on either one of those ideas rather than trying to combine them but combining them is awesome too. Lovecraft and Howard discovered whole new dimensions of the imagination that we have yet to plumb the depths of.

Absolutely no one “needs” a car payment. I bought my first 4 cars cash by saving. Buy a used beater. I did this as a 15 year old. The insurance and maintenance is also much cheaper. I didn’t have a car payment until I was in my 30’s!
