The problem here is the approach.
Just like it’s cruel to call a gay child a f@ggot, it’s cruel to talk about a transgender girl trying to integrate and move on with life as if she’s a sexual predator trying to invade girl’s spaces.
But barking and shutting people down people that slip with moralistic tirades doesn’t work.
It’s hard, but I try to remember that c1s people just don’t know. They don’t know what it’s like to be a child and always turn the lights off when you brush your teeth because the reminder that you are male causes you to panic to the point you can’t sleep.
They don’t understand what’s it’s like to pray every night that you will become a girl, and to feel your faith in God die as no help comes. They don’t understand what it’s like to be a child monitoring every hand gesture and vocal inflection that feels normal - because the boys beat you when you slip.
To them this is just men in women’s spaces.
Instead of barking at them to shut up, we need to help them understand.
