As a kid I remember I would ride my bike around the neighborhood and one frequent thought of mine was that I want to be a good person. It was a vague idea with no concrete goal behind it, just the obsession with being good and kindhearted. I look at myself now and wonder if the choices I made in life meet that goal. Can I rightfully tell a younger self that I did what he wanted? I don't know. It's a conflict of mine and I'm not sure if it's just guilt from choices I've made or the people I've hurt from my own selfishness. I'm glad to be Catholic because it keeps me grounded and it at least points me in the right direction to be Saint God willing. Yet even with that framework I often time fail. I feel very conflicted with myself. I hope to revisit this question months down the line and answer a younger self of mine that I didn't let him down.
