@davestokes66 @CurtisDaly_ If all trans people have to use the bathrooms of their biological sex, that will mean trans women (biological women) having to use women's bathrooms. To which they could now be barred if women find their presence concerning (because they look like men).

@50LibtardedIQ @sowelleconomics Please do let me know if any of the words that I have used are too complicated (hard) for you to comprehend (know). I will try my best to adjust my vocabulary (words) to a man with the reading age of an intellectually challenged (stupid) 6 year old.

“Capitalism was the only system in history where wealth was not acquired by looting, but by production, not by force, but by trade, the only system that stood for man’s right to his own mind, to his work, to his life, to his happiness, to himself.” — Ayn Rand

@sowelleconomics This assessment of capitalism is so selective it has absolutely no value. I think that the Indian cotton workers would beg to differ about the peaceful nature of the spread of capitalism. Or the British cotton industry that was heavily reliant on slave labour.

“He talks about values, but I think what Londoners value is not being mugged, not being raped by a serving police officer.” CEO of Palantir UK Louis Mosley says London Mayor Sadiq Khan is “putting politics over public safety” by blocking the tech firm’s deal with the Met Police.

@OldeWorldOrder No, Charlie dedicated his life to pushing a particular narrative that caricatured that which he opposed. Let's not pretend that his recommendations aren't pushing a very specific economic model.

@Steven_Swinford I'm not sure how wise it is to turn a local by-election into a party leadership campaign. It sends two messages: First, Burnham's main priority is to gain the seat to become PM; Second, he is unlikely to carr very much at all for the constituency.

Andy Burnham says that Labour ‘has not been good enough’ and needs to change as he launches his Makerfield by-election pitch ‘We have not been good enough. A vote for me in this by election is a vote to change Labour ‘It is a vote to give the people in these communities back the party they used to know ‘A party that is solidly on the side of working class people and working class communities’

@ToryFibs It's just a shame that Andy Burnham's compass is incapable of finding true north and has a tendency of swivelling around in different positions without any sense of consistency or direction.

An Andy Burnham victory in Makerfield and success in Labour Leadership election would put the first person with a moral compass inside No.10 Downing Street since Gordon Brown. In the event of a likely hung parliament, left parties would be much better negotiating a supply and confidence deal with Andy Burham than Wes Streeting who is to the right of all Labour leaders there have ever been. In foreign policy, we’d have fewer wars that the UK would be involved in. We’d have been investment in schools and a publicly owned NHS. We’d have council housing and more public control of utilities. We have an increased chance of proportional representation and less hostile treatment of Muslims by government. In my view, this is a once in a generation chance to put a decent human in Downing Street. History won’t judge us kindly if we botch this.

@LeftieStats @Telegraph Of course he has. Because the most important thing to understand about Andy Burnham is that he doesn't have principles. He has positions. And positions can be changed when required.

🚨BREAKING | Burnham has abandoned his support for trans rights in his latest u-turn, backing EHRC guidance and the 2025 Supreme Court ruling. At a campaign launch, he said: "The time has come to take the Supreme Court ruling and the guidance and implement it" (Via @Telegraph)

@IainDale But the evidence indicates that any undercutting of wages was negligible. The real problem is that economic orthodoxy applauds the ability of businesses to pay as little as possible in order to make as large a profit as possible. The nature of the system undercuts wages.

@IainDale The sectors in which Eastern European immigrants undercut wages were those sectors with a history of poor unionisation and oversight.

It's not racist to understand the basic rules of supply and demand. If there are too many people coming into the country, as there were from Eastern Europe in the 2000s, and they are willing to work for less than the indigenous people, wage levels will fall in those sectors.
Wol@WasOnceLoved

Iain Dale repeating the usual racist dog-whistle nonsense about wage suppression caused by immigration. It doesn’t happen. There is no correlation let alone causation between immigration and wage suppression. Wages were suppressed by the Tories. For shame @LBC

“The market” is just people voluntarily trading with each other. Capitalism doesn’t say humans exist to serve markets. It says no human has the right to forcibly use another human as a resource. Ironically, the socialist framing does exactly what she accuses capitalism of doing: it reduces individuals to tools for “society,” “equity,” or “the collective,” where your labor, earnings, and property become claims others are entitled to. Under capitalism, you own your life and trade by consent. Under socialism, the political class decides what counts as “equitable” and compels everyone else to serve that vision.

@NAPocaly @RockChartrand Even when labour is considered valuable it is in an abstract sense. It is seen as valuable as a concept which is desirable, but it is detached from the individual and their lived reality.

@NAPocaly @RockChartrand This is even seen in sectors where labour is widely considered valuable. During COVID the healthcare sector was lauded for its sacrifices, but that didn't equate to a belief that they should receive a pay increase after years of wage stagnation.
