@sacjai To be honest, my dogs’ veterinarian always makes an effort to get a good history from me, which is more than what I can say about some doctors when treating elderly patients. As doctors we have to remind ourselves of the importance of communicating with patients and their family

Impatience and arrogance leads some to practice “veterinary medicine” on patients who speak different languages or have complicated medical histories that are challenging to explain. Not okay.

@sacjai The challenge will be fighting spread of misinformation about science and medicine and undoing its effects on the public.

In addition to COVID czar, @JoeBiden should appoint a senior official whose job it is to address the more fundamental challenge we must address: trust in science and medicine. (Thread)

Happy Nurse Practitioner week to our NP colleagues. I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the breadth and depth of the NP role, the critical difference NPs make in the lives of patients through their skills, their care and compassion, as well as their leadership.

I am proud to work alongside some of the most resilient, safe, and caring humans this life has to offer. California it’s time, allow nurse practitioners full practice authority so that we can do what we were born to do...care for those that need us.

CA lawmakers: It's time to #ClosetheProviderGap. Please vote YES on #AB890 and help millions of Californians access the health care they desperately need.

My 20th Reunion @ U of Rochester School of Medicine; the revolutionary biopsychosocial model helped us develop into doctors who see not only disease, but the complete person. No matter what specialty we each entered, we share the same clinical philosophy. Meliora=ever better

@Atul_Gawande What a sad story! It should become illegal for parents to refuse such proven interventions. It shouldn’t be a choice!

A 6 yr old Oregon boy whose parents refused vaccination got the first pediatric case of tetanus in the state in 30 years. Produced lockjaw requiring a tracheostomy and 5 wks on a ventilator. (And the parents still won’t give him any vaccinations.) statnews.com/2019/03/07/nig…

@sacjai Would go back to medical school any time. Love the science and art of medicine. It’s a true privilege to be a part in someone’s life, where they share their secrets, their pain, hopes and fears with you, and where you have an opportunity to actually make a difference every time.

If you could start over and enter graduate school in the medical sciences and choose one of the following—which would you choose (and why)?
