@sacjai To be honest, my dogs’ veterinarian always makes an effort to get a good history from me, which is more than what I can say about some doctors when treating elderly patients. As doctors we have to remind ourselves of the importance of communicating with patients and their family

Impatience and arrogance leads some to practice “veterinary medicine” on patients who speak different languages or have complicated medical histories that are challenging to explain. Not okay.

@sacjai The challenge will be fighting spread of misinformation about science and medicine and undoing its effects on the public.

In addition to COVID czar, @JoeBiden should appoint a senior official whose job it is to address the more fundamental challenge we must address: trust in science and medicine. (Thread)

@sacjai Would go back to medical school any time. Love the science and art of medicine. It’s a true privilege to be a part in someone’s life, where they share their secrets, their pain, hopes and fears with you, and where you have an opportunity to actually make a difference every time.
