"Side window"? You can see the photos of the car with bullet holes. The shots came from the front of the car because that's where the officer was standing when he was hit by the car.
He is allowed to discharge his weapon in self defense.

Ok this is genuinely psychotic. Innocent? He shot an unarmed woman twice through a side window and then called her a “fuckin’ bitch,” let her bleed out, and fled the scene.

I wish we'd stop ignoring this point. Legal immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans, and undocumented immigrants, already living marginal and uncertain lives, are even less likely. Panic over "immigrant crime" is demagoguery - the numbers are clear.
