When the one skill that shaded (kinda) McMahon’s offensive woes turns in the wrong direction, it creates an interesting decision-making process for the Yankees as they bring Volpe back into the picture.

@seanmohen You know how they work; they’ll often wear the options they set forth into the ground. There have been some quicker than normal error corrects this year (Grichuk/Gil), but I think they give these guys a longer leash for better or for worse.

Aaron Boone says he's been a little hesitant, as of now, to give Ben Rice a starting role at catcher. Boone added that he felt Rice was being overworked a bit in Spring Training, mixing his catching and first base duties, and they'd rather him really focus on first base.

@ParforeTom I’m not a huge fan of him catching unless it’s an emergency. He’s learning 1B and not a great arm and it will wear him down. He should just be left alone at first.

There is no sound reason to sit Ben Rice. What more does he have to prove? Forget getting Goldschmidt reps; he’s a pinch hitter (and for someone else, not Rice) and a clubhouse presence. That’s it. #Yankees
