What I was absolutely shocked about Punjab fans during these last 6 defeats was how a decent chunk of them were saying crap about Shreyas Iyer..things like "Sarpanch and all is only PR which has gone into his head". In 2 of the greatest "Acid Tests" in Punjab's last 2 seasons, Iyer stepped up and single handedly took them over the line. It was not about qualifying for final against MI or trying to qualify for playoffs this time. It was much more than that. Punjab had once again become the banter club when they lost Q1 badly to RCB..no one gave them a chance against rampant MI. Similarly, this year too they were just a laughing stock before tonight. On both occasions, Shreyas Iyer said "fck it I am Shreyas Iyer" and grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck. He saved Punjab from proper humiliation on both occasions. There may be flaws in his captaincy or batting technique..but his own fans questioning his mentality was shocking for me to see especially given how successful he made them as soon as he joined them. Know who your crowned jewel is even in adversity and defeat. He has always been a clutch player and should be backed to get his team out of any situation. Sarpanch Shreyas Iyer. Put some respect on that name. Or else give him to us we will happily take him away.
