It’s no secret that the MSPLOST voting results were a huge disappointment, but it came as no surprise.
It’s hard to get an electorate to support a long-term tax increase for a service very few use in such a short time frame.
Our work continues. Transit will continue to expand.

@NoINed @whiteknuckled So the only way it can reduce vehicle counts is a combo of:
* high utilization for ride sharing
* connection to fixed route network (I.e. the transfer to the bus)

@whiteknuckled Our town was exploring something like this for the commercial/shopping district that gets choked with midday traffic. But the engineers admit that micro-transit doesn’t reduce vehicle counts. Only thing it can alleviate is parking demand at destinations like restaurants.

Gwinnett County (NE ATL burbs) is promising something like this (point to point for a few dollars) as part of next week's transit ballot referendum and I just cannot figure out how the math works.

The new microtransit pilot launched in Cobb County yesterday! We rode it a few times and a $2.50 trip replaced what would have been a $20 trip on Uber. This could be gamechanging for suburban transit: 1. Connects riders to fixed transit routes 2. Door to door transit rides

Needs to match the normal operating hours of the fixed routes.

i dont think ppl talk abt this enough but like cars arent inherently bad. the issue is REALLY single occupancy vehicle use. any way we can reduce that is massive for making our transportation system more efficient imo
