Lewis Macari has undergone surgery after sustaining a lower leg injury in Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against Colchester United. The defender remains in hospital in Cambridge but it’s hoped he will be transferred to Nottingham in the coming days for ongoing assessment and care, with further updates to follow when appropriate. We’d like to thank Colchester’s medical staff for their assistance, along with everyone who has sent messages of support to Lewis.

It's not necessarily "the hope that kills me" with Walsall. It's watching other teams go up (deservedly so in this case) and having to tack on another year just sat in the nothing zone again. Will only listen to Colchester fans on footballing misery.
