Just to help summarize what I’m hearing from Texags and baseball twitter experts: Kelley will stay (good w me), Longley will stay, but Earley will take charge of the hitting. Earley will display himself more as a coach and less of a friend. To me, this is enough of an “overhaul”.

@Mavs_anon I’m somewhere in between. My passion for the team has been severely zapped but I can’t just be a laker fan and not feel like a weirdo. It stings worse bc it’s not like we traded Luka after years of losing (Dame and Portland), we hadn’t even really seen the ceiling yet.

@Colson_Ging No argument from me, but both scenarios end with winning. I'm mad because Luka is the best path to win titles. I think he will win multiple. Doing it in Dallas would have been sweet. If he declines and sucks, I'm not just cheering for him to cheer for him.

I get a little lost when Mavs accounts claim they would rather lose with Luka than win without him. The point of sports is to win. I cheer for my team to win. I would rather win than keep a player because of emotional attachment. I hate the trade because it made us worse.

@Mavs_anon I am ultimately a Mavs fan, but we all invested into the Luka story, which was so compelling because he’d been here his whole career. If we traded him for the other 4 1st team all NBA, won it all, I think it’s clear why that wouldn’t feel even kind of as satisfying

@Mavs_anon I get that take but the NBA is a big time players league, more so than any other team sport, so a huge part of the fan experience is watching the development of your favorite players and the narratives around them - it’s why Dirk’s ring is ultimately so satisfying.

ICYMI: The amazing kids and staff of Children’s Cook hospital in Fort Worth have always been a huge inspiration to Luka Dončić. Upon his return to Dallas today, Dončić and the @LD77Foundation threw a party for the kids and staff that still hold a special place in Luka’s heart. Bigger than Basketball.
