Times like this remind us that if our hope and trust are in the things of this temporary world, how pitied we should be. But, if our hope and trust be in the biblical Christ, our satisfaction in Him will be eternal and we can face these days with the uttermost confidence.

The confessors state, “You are the Lord, you alone” (Nehemiah 9:6). The Lord is God alone. May those who know Him serve Him as such.

Sports are fun, teach work ethic, and build camaraderie. But they make for a terrible god. Those who, by God’s grace, rebuilt the wall in Jerusalem, who had open Bibles, and were confessing their sinfulness, in adoration, rightly acknowledged the only one worthy of praise.

Kids are a blessing from the Lord (Psalm 127:3-5). But they make horrible gods. Marriage is a gift from God (Proverbs 18:22). But a spouse makes for an awful god. Work is enjoyable (Ecclesiastes 2:24). But it makes for a disappointing god.

“The grass withers, flowers fall, life's a vapor, beauty's fleeting, we get old and die, our emotions change, the world gets more crazy, but the Word of our Lord stands forever and our triune God is immutable.” - @BurkParsons

“How unreasonable, and wholly inexcusable, in believers, is the sin of backsliding from Christ! Have you found rest in him, when you could not find it in any other! Did he receive, and ease your souls, when all other persons and things were physicians of no value?” -@FlavelJohn

One year ago to this very day my wife and I were joined in marriage. Now, one year later on our first anniversary, we just had our son, Ryle Colter Rantz. Welcome to this sin-filled world, my son. The one glorious thing is Christ.

Join us on Sunday at 11:00 am for our Resurrection Sunday worship service. “But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.”(Matthew 28:5-6)

There will be far too many man centered sermons Sunday morning. Ridiculous sermon titles like: 1) The stones you must roll away 2) What Jesus can raise in your life (money, marriage, etc.) Faithful pastors will instead practice: 1) Christ-centered/Christ exalting sermons

Today I get to celebrate the life of my Grandpa Willard. I’m thankful for his: 1. Passion for scripture 2. Dedication to the Lord 3. His humility recognizing his need for God’s sovereign grace. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." (Psalm 116:15).

The righteous shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying, "See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!" —Psalm 52:6-7

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! —Psalm 30:11-12
