@chris_sutton73 @Record_Sport @chrissutton73 Its really simple Chris. As a completely neutral English football fan, I felt genuine interest in Scottish football for the first time with the success of Hearts. The unbelievable bias in the VAR decisions leading up to the last game is nothing but shocking.

My @Record_Sport column on the Celtic pitch invasion and why fans should not be allowed to enter the field of play at any game plus while I understand Hearts pain they have nothing to whinge about re the final whistle as Derek McInnes called time… your thoughts?
Daily Record Sport@Record_Sport

I disagree with Martin O'Neill on Celtic pitch invasion but Hearts statement is odd amid wild full time chatter | @chris_sutton73 dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football…

@wellsd30 There was no advantage in the game you lost, the spying was done before. It would have spurred any team on but not Boro. It’s so simple, you earn a final place by winning a semi final. Boro lost!

Hull didn’t spy on Millwall. Southampton spied on Boro. So Boro therefore had a clear disadvantage in their playoff legs. Millwall didn’t. Why are people finding this so hard to understand😂 I’ve tried to stay off Twitter but people driving me mad… There’s no comparison.
Peter Johnson@Pjohnnners

A thought for @MillwallFC who lost in a play off against @HullCity in a similar way to how @Boro lost to @SouthamptonFC yet Boro end up with a free pass to a £200 million game, Millwall lads on the beach. Not right for me anyway any excuse to show Mo Belloumi’s goal again #hcafc

@LouSirr101 @citytillidie81 Football bias aside, it’s embarrassing that a fan would blame losing over 2 legs because some training was filmed with a phone. Boro knew this had happened before playing the 2nd leg. What on earth could they blame on the spy that cost them the game? Get a grip

@citytillidie81 Again, you nor can anyone else prove we lost that final on sporting merit, because you can't disprove the notion that the spying had any effect.

People genuinely aren't using their brains. Hull have no argument literally. You have to win the final. We haven't had the chance to play a fair semi-final. The assumption is that we lost on sporting merit which is fundamentally unproven. Hence why either we replay or go thru
Dave Holmes@DaveHo1mes

I’d argue Hull have a better argument to be promoted than Southampton have for their punishment to be reduced. The reality is they’ll probably just stick with what the first panel decided, Southampton effectively cheated teams out of their chance to be in the playoffs so their argument has no merit.

After this crazy 24 hours. There is one guy, who all season has given everything. Absolutely loves the club, the fans, and Teesside. Played literally every single game - and misses out on the biggest game of his career. He deserved to be there on Saturday. All with ya Tommy 💯

@GraemeBandeira @steve541854 This whole fiasco has been a farce. Yes discipline Saints but why on earth Boro are rewarded for losing over 2 legs is beyond me. Only fair way was to promote Hull but that wouldn’t tick the box for Sky etc.

Hull City have earned the right to contest this showpiece final but they must earn the right to get to the Premier League by contesting this final. Talk of a bye is nonsense. They have to play somebody and Boro are the next logical contestants. It’s not our fault we played cheats

@X_Will_R But Middlesbrough didn’t know if they had an opponent at all and went all out in extra time thinking it was our last chance. We have lost our striker Tommy Conway. I’m not asking for sympathy I’m just stating both teams have been severely disrupted.

Things Southampton and other rival teams still aren’t understanding about the EFL decision - Middlesbrough have done nothing wrong - expulsion is the correct sporting sanction in a knockout competition, points don’t matter - since they also broke the regulations in the league they’re deducted points - Hull and Middlesbrough have had equally (if differently) disrupted preparations Well done the EFL

@JeffLawren80708 @TimesSport @GregorRoberts0n As a Boro fan you should be more concerned about the incredible drop off in performance from your team in the last third of the season. Incompetence in front of goal has cost you, not someone stood by a tree with a phone

@RodinSimi No, it’s ex players and pundits like you talking complete rubbish that’s making a mockery of the league. A kick to the head tells you where his foot is, dangerous play end of!

Gareth Bale on the controversial penalty given against Tottenham Hotspur: "Premier League refereeing and inconsistency is becoming impossible to understand. That was never a penalty. Tell had no idea someone was even coming behind him, you have to give the player the benefit of the doubt in situations like that. The game should've continued normally, but awarding a penalty for something so soft is making a complete mockery of the league. You don't see penalties like that being given in Serie A or La Liga. As a former player, it's heartbreaking to watch because decisions like these are slowly damaging the credibility of the Premier League."

@AdamJSmithy A kick to the head by Tel then a Leeds player touching the ball first in a well timed tackle are not 50/50? I do agree the DCL offside was debatable if that’s what you’re referring to?

FT Everton 1 #LUFC 1 Farke simply waited far too long to react to the changes made by Moyes at HT. He had to switch it up after 60 minutes when it was clear they were under massive pressure and Everton had all the momentum. Farke is reticent at times to make aggressive changes and it is really frustrating because when he has made those aggressive timely changes it has more often than not worked out. Ultimately it’s another good point away from home but there was a win there for Leeds and with 4 of the next 5 really tricky it would have provided a healthy cushion. Plenty of positives for Leeds. Darlow made a nice save but really needs to settle when in possession. JJ adapted to LWB and took his goal well but Gudmundsson was missed. DCL fantastic again. Special mention to Rodon who was marshalling that backline and making sure they didn’t sit too deep which they tend to do if left unchecked. Overall a good point away from home but that Forest game looks like a must-win now.

@SkySportsPL Leeds had their block set up well, but Fulham's press forced Gudmundsson into that own goal at Craven Cottage. Silva’s tweak in midfield shape undid Farke’s side – pure late drama. What a way to lose.
