We need to start an honest conversation about Social Security. The trust fund runs out around 2034 I think. After that, benefits drop to about 80% unless Congress acts. But the uncomfortable truth is: the math doesn’t work long-term. We need to level with young workers. Social Security, as we know it, won’t be there for you at current levels. If you’re 20, start saving now. Put 15% into your 401(k) or IRA. With an employer match, that’s 18%. Do that from age 20 to 67 and you retire with roughly $4-5 million - about 9X what Social Security would provide. Start at 15% and shape your lifestyle around it. You won’t miss what you never had, and you’ll thank yourself later. Plus, less stuff = more freedom. For current retirees, we keep our promises - no one should have the rug pulled out. But we need a realistic phase-down for future benefits while ramping up mandatory retirement savings. Yes, that means some people will pay in and get less out. That’s painful. But pretending the system is sustainable is worse. With enforced retirement saving, they’ll actually retire with more. The real question is: How do we honor commitments to today’s retirees while transitioning to something that actually works? Raising the retirement age or tweaking tax caps just kicks the can down the road. At some point, we need to face the arithmetic - and build a system fit for the next century, not the last one. SS was a mistake when it was invented and implemented poorly. I find it hard to believe they didn't run the numbers and see it would eventually fail. ACA is a whole other issue that sounded good to a bunch of voters and just hammered the hell out of everybody else. That's another boondoggle that needs to be addressed.

Gun violence is the number one cause of death among young people. A 16 year old has died because of guns. Instead of spending Memorial Day weekend together, his family will be mourning his loss. It’s past time for gun control. kstp.com/kstp-news/top-…

Ok listen to me VERY carefully 1. You visit her one last time "to pick up your stuff" 2. You apologize to her parents that it didn't work out 3. You tell each parent what you learned from them and that you'll carry it with you for the rest of your life 4. They get a bittersweet feeling and will miss you 5. You make sure to remember their birthdays and send them a message on other holidays to make them never forget you 6. You are now the ex they'll compare every future boyfriend to 7. The expectations and the pressure will slow cook her subconsciously. She'll only bring bad options home. 8. They'll nag at her. "Leon was a good guy and you let him go" they'll say, sabotaging her future relationships further and slowly making her resent her parents 9. Her parents will start texting you, saying you were the best she ever brought home and that they'll miss you. 10. You say you're sorry, you really tried your best...but it takes two to make a relationship work 11. They start pressuring her to try again. She will decline at first. 12. After 10 more failed relationships and increased pressure from her parents, she gives in. She agrees to meet you once more. 13. You meet with her as a friend. You enjoy your meeting. You remind her of the good times you've had together. She starts to think "Maybe it just wasn't the right time" 14. She opens up to you, gives you another chance. You meet her a few times. Nothing happens. You are friendly but you keep your distance. 15. She finally falls in love with you. That's when you tell her you only view her as a friend and you can't stand her weird hairline. You leave and never look back FIN

In 2024, 564 Minnesotans lost their lives to gun violence. And last year, two little kids’ lives were taken in the Annunciation shooting months after Melissa and Mark Hortman were killed in their own home. We need action on common-sense gun legislation. I will always fight to keep Minnesotans safe.

Mr. Bezos: Let's have that debate. Under my 5% billionaires wealth tax, we'd: -Give $12K to a working family of 4 -Expand Medicare for dental, vision, hearing -Guarantee universal childcare -Raise starting teacher pay to $60K And you'd still be worth $269 billion after taxes.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

Jeff Bezos on CNBC: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."

I told a man I’ve been talking to for months that I have a lot of bills to sort out and it’s really weighing me down. This man said, “I understand how that feels, just take it one step at a time.” Yesterday afternoon, he told me to come visit him and I said alright. I woke up this morning to several missed calls and messages from him saying he was expecting me throughout yesterday evening and I didn’t come. I replied, “I’m coming one step at a time. Do you know how long that takes?” I am still waiting for his response😂😭.

@EmbracingTara Part of it could be the full cost not being borne by the purchaser. If somebody else is paying your health care or subsidizing your home or giving you food stamps, you have 'discretionary spending' above your actual level of income. Chipotle's cost me $0 as well.

Chipotle burritos cost $17 because the market supports $17 burritos If everyone said, I'm not paying $17 for a burrito, fuck that, Chipotle burritos wouldn't cost $17. Chipotle burritos cost me $0.00. Do you know why? I choose not to purchase them. Is this clocking at all?

@shanbatla @CryptoMikli Buy a bag of pasta, a jar of pasta sauce and some cheese slices. Cook the pasta in boiling water for about 11 minutes. Drain. Mix the pasta sauce into the pasta. Eat that for lunch the week.

Hey @X is this a joke? I call out inappropriate behavior and content in gyms but there is NEVER any nudity and if there is, I cover it up. Millions of views which YOU get paid for and not even a discussion? There was no “thorough” review. Just one email and DONE. Do better X…

The problem is the charges are so heinous and actions so morally reprehensible that people don't want to believe that they are true. And then defenders of these men demand to see "Just one court case" that details the sadistic sexual grooming/treatment of young girls. But then that runs afoul of protecting victims' identities and then they say "See, you can't even name a single case." When in fact there are so many cases that you couldn't realistically name them all. Is there one that is well known, documented and has a link on a well renowned trusted government website as a legitimate court case where the accused was found guilty of these sadistic acts? That way we can provide a link to those people saying "this stuff isn't real and you can't provide a single link to prove it is."

The UK grooming gang scandals are documented in official inquiries and convictions. Rotherham's Alexis Jay Report (2014) details ~1,400 victims abused 1997-2013, including dousing in petrol/threats to set alight, guns, brutal gang rapes, and intimidation—drawn from court evidence and victim testimony. Key cases: Operation Bullfinch (Oxford, 2013 trial) convicted 7 men (some life sentences) for systematic rape/trafficking. Rochdale 2012: 9 men convicted. Rotherham trials (2010 onward) and others followed. Exact "case numbers" aren't one docket; they're group trials under ops names (e.g., Sheffield Crown Court cases) with transcripts often restricted for victim privacy. The horrors are real and substantiated.
