@Glenn_Diesen So while you blame European politicians, the truth is that all blame lies on Putin, Russian politicians, and Russia itself. Without the invasion, no war.

@Glenn_Diesen Let’s be honest here: hundreds of thousands of young men did not die because European politicians boycotted diplomacy, they’ve died because Russia is waging an aggressive war against an European neighbour. The underlying issue here is that Donbas and Crimea are Ukrainian.

Finland's President Stubb argued: "Yes, it is time to start negotiations with Russia." * I would like to know why it was not considered a good time to speak with Russia four years ago. Our political class boycotted diplomacy for all these years while hundreds of thousands of young men died, and put us on a path toward nuclear war that we are still on. Anyone who argued for diplomacy was smeared and censored by our radicalised political-media establishment. So why was it considered immoral to speak with the other side then, but not now?

@IslanderWORLD Together, we are strong. For decades, Russia and Ukraine had settled their border, until Putin decided that Russia wanted more. If Ukraine had been part of NATO, then they would have been safe from Russian aggression.

Putin just dismantled the NATO fairy tale on Finland with ice cold precision. “What did Finland join NATO for? Did we have any territorial disputes with Finland? No! Everything had long been settled.” He didn’t stop there. “Why did they join NATO then? In the hope that everything here would collapse, and they’d swoop in and grab what they could. They’re already building a border along the Sestra River.” Then, with that signature dry St. Petersburg sarcasm: “I would make certain gestures and say a few things, but since I come from the cultural capital, I’ll refrain.” No bluster, just the facts. Here’s the question the entire Western client media refuses to ask out loud: Did turning Finland into NATO’s shiny new forward operating base right on Russia’s longest European border, make the Finns more secure… or dramatically less secure? Now that the've morphed into an existential threat by hosting NATO on Russia's border. For decades Finland lived in calm, stable neutrality with a settled 830 mile border and zero territorial friction. Then it rushed into NATO, doubled the alliance’s frontier with Russia, and suddenly Helsinki is building fences and hosting NATO troops. This of course was never about “defending” Finland. It was about turning a peaceful neighbor into a frontline provocation. Natural consequences don’t hand out one sided security guarantees. They hand out front row seats to the very confrontation you claimed you were avoiding. Finland of course didn’t buy peace and there was never the point beyond the ridiculous sales pitch. What it did buy is a frontline ticket and Russia just reminded everyone who actually controls the neighborhood.

Russia just dropped the hammer: Get your diplomats out of Kiev — NOW. The Foreign Ministry’s message is ice-cold and unmistakable. Moscow will strike decision-making centers in the Ukrainian capital if Zelensky’s regime dares to disrupt the May 9 Victory Day parade. No ambiguity. Maria Zakharova spelled it out from the podium, voice steady, eyes locked: the collective West can try to sweep Zelensky’s aggressive threats under the rug, destroy Soviet memorials, exhume soldiers’ remains and rewrite history all they want. But they are accomplices in the criminal plans of the Kiev regime. This time, she warned, self-preservation had better not fail them. Thr statement from Russia’s Defense Ministry and every step that follows must be taken with deadly seriousness. To paraphrase Dmitry Medvedev: Russia may well need to put animalistic fear into the Western European masters of puppet Zelensky. The message is simple. Kiev’s provocations on the one day Russia remembers its greatest sacrifice will not be tolerated. Kiev's European masters have been warned.

@DinahReschid @Greensreport1 Not Mitch if they go alone. Which is why they joined NATO, a defensive alliance. They don’t want to attack Russia, but they want assistance if Russia attacks Finland, and is prepared to help other countries if Russia attacks them.

Finland was neutral. Had close ties with Russia for years. Then Ukraine and the EU happened. They threw it all away. Finland traded with Russia. Bought cheap energy. Prospered. Respected by East and West. Then NATO called. Finland abandoned neutrality. Joined NATO. Sanctioned Russia. Threatened China. Cut off energy. Lost trade. Lost tourism. Lost influence. What did Finland gain? NATO membership. Article 5. What did Finland lose? Cheap energy. Russian tourists. Trade. Influence. Economic stability. Social welfare. Sovereignty. Finland is now the worst performing EU state. Fastest-worsening finances. Highest unemployment. Cutting social welfare. Cities shrinking. The EU and NATO created megalomania in Helsinki. Five million people acting like a superpower. Threatening China. Sanctioning Russia. Lecturing the world. China and Russia are not threatened. They are adapting. Finland is isolating itself. Finland was neutral. Prosperous. Respected. Then Ukraine and the EU happened. Now Finland is broke. Broken. And alone. Neutrality was not cowardice. It was wisdom. Finland forgot that.
New Direction AFRICA@Its_ereko

🚨🇫🇮 ALERT: Finland's Foreign Minister is trying to break ties between China and Russia. Something even the United States has failed to do. A nation of five million people. Grappling in the super heavyweight division. The EU and NATO have fostered a dangerous sense of megalomania in Helsinki. Finland's foreign relations are being handled as poorly as its economy. Both are in crisis. And they are tightly intertwined. When Finland seeks confrontation instead of cooperation, trade suffers. The economy suffers. The people suffer. China is now telling Finland to stop politicizing trade. That is not a threat. That is a reality check. Megalomania is not foreign policy. It is a suicide note.

@DavidD_Chapman But in the end, all of above is only a symptom of US losing its soft power by electing a leader who believes that everything is a zero sum game and the best way to negotiate is to threaten your friends and allies. Remember Greenland? Denmark was US closest friend.

@Arrogance_0024 Iraq started the war by invading Kuwait. USA started the war in Iran. Even without the orange man in the White House doing his best to ruin US-Europe relations, the first two sentences changes the equation.

Why did NATO allies follow Bush in Iraq but refuse to follow Trump in Iran? What exactly has changed? What is the "problem" now? Or should I rather say: WHO is the problem??
