Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk...If you’re an Errol Flynn fan, you just got excited… and probably showed your age 😂
I remember watching those classic black & white movies on TV reruns in the 1980s — Captain Blood (1935) and The Sea Hawk (1940). They made me want to be a pirate so bad.
Then on May 8, 1987, Sid Meier’s Pirates! landed on the Commodore 64. The moment I got my hands on it (yes, a pirated copy of course 🏴☠️), it instantly made me feel like Errol Flynn himself — sword duels on deck, ship battles, and treasure hunting on the Spanish Main. Still one of the greatest C64 games ever made!
We can all agree Pirates! is an iconic classic… but hold onto your tricornes (that classic 3-cornered pirate hat)! Zzap!64 magazine gave it just 68%, saying it was “a rather disappointing release which fails to capture the imagination in the same way that Defender of the Crown did.”
Me thinks those reviewers had a bit too much rum. Were they deserving of a keel-hauling… or walking the plank?
In 1996 Sonic Team released a non-Sonic game with NiGHTS Into Dreams! Sonic 3D Blast released on the Genesis and Saturn, Blast on the Game Gear, Sonic's Schoolhouse on PC, and the Sonic OVA was released in Japan! Alas, Sonic X-Treme was cancelled.
Catalog NES Game 28- Gyromite
Gyromite was released on the NES in 1985 and was one of the two video games to take advantage of the Nintendo's R.O.B Accessory.
This game is one of the only two games that had support for the R.O.B., with the other game being Stack-Up. Unlike Stack-Up, this game is fairly common because it was included as a pack-in title with the NES Deluxe Set.
In the game the main enemy army is the Smick. This game is the only appearance of the "Smick" enemy army, and the last appearance of Professors Hector and Vector the people you play as depending on single or two player mode.
As a part of some trivia Some copies of the game have a hidden Famicom to NES adapter inside of them, which is present only because Nintendo was rushing to release the game on time, and chose to simply put the Famicom version of the game inside an NES shell. Other games that have this adapter include Clu Clu Land, Excitebike, and even Stack-Up.

Stephen Colbert got his band to play licensed music during his final show so CBS would be sued for using the music illegally.
“Oh no! I hope this doesn't cost CBS any money!”
LOL Stephen Colbert is making his band play licensed music during his final show so CBS – who fired him – will get sued and have to pay millions
"Anyone illegally using that music is gonna have to pay through the nose--"
[band starts playing]

Utah Jazz beat writer Sarah Todd joined @espnthefan to break down why she doesn't think the Utah Jazz trade up:
Q: Break this down for us. Why aren’t the Jazz likely to trade up, and why shouldn’t they?
Sarah Todd: I think the most basic way to break this down is this: you should never pay for something you can have for free.
At this point, the Jazz would need to give up something to move up to No. 1 — whether that’s current picks, future picks, a young player, or some combination of those things.
The fact of the matter is they can stay at No. 2 and still get a player who is just as widely regarded as the No. 1 pick.
Let’s say the Wizards take AJ Dybantsa at No. 1. For the last few years leading up to this collegiate season, I had NBA executives across the league telling me that if Darryn Peterson had been in the same draft as Cooper Flagg, they’d have taken Darryn above Cooper.
There has been a lot of love and excitement around Darryn Peterson.
The same could be said about AJ Dybantsa. I think if this had been an AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cooper Flagg draft, both AJ and Darryn could have gone ahead of Cooper. That’s how excited teams are about these two players.
This past season, though, there’s been a slight shift — some because of concerns about Darryn Peterson’s health, and some because of the kind of season AJ had. He looks very NBA-ready and ready to contribute immediately.
But the gap is tiny. AJ kind of leads as the consensus No. 1 pick, but by such a small margin because there are still a lot of people who think Darryn Peterson has the highest ceiling and the most talent.
So if you’re the Jazz, why are you giving up assets to move up when Darryn Peterson could just fall into your lap for free?
And that’s assuming Washington even takes AJ. They could take Peterson and then AJ falls to the Jazz anyway.
It’s just about doing the smart thing from an asset standpoint.
Then there are all the other contributing factors. Yes, AJ was in Provo at BYU and went to Utah Prep. But that’s two years of his life. That doesn’t mean he wants to stay in Utah forever.
The politically correct thing to say is, “Yeah, I’d love to stay in Utah,” but that’s like saying Keyonte George spent time at IMG Academy in Florida and therefore only wanted to play in Florida.
And honestly, this is kind of the harsh reality: yes, it would be exciting for the Jazz to have a homegrown product — a guy from Utah Prep and BYU — but that’s not what moves the needle financially for the Jazz.
The thing that makes Ryan Smith money is winning. Winning puts people in seats. Winning raises your national profile.
And the way to do that is not by giving up assets. It’s by keeping everything you have.
