Are you a fan of the Stollen 🙂? Only original when made in #Dresden by a range of officially approved bakers. From kneading to finished product - it's proper craft and so great to see how the tradition is maintained from generation to generation. Images: Daniel James Clarke

Ever heard of "Schwibbogen"? These beautiful decorative candle-holders are made in #Saxony's Ore Mountains, together with many other traditional wooden #Christmas decorations. Quite atmospheric, isn't it 🙂

It's not just a favourite in summer: #Thuringia's "mountain railway" in the Thuringian Highlands is a delightful way to explore this beautiful region. Are you ready to get on board 🙂?

What a wonderfully colourful affair: Here's the Christmas market in #Jena. We're making an assumption that you don't know Thuringia's second biggest city yet but it's worthwhile exploring - also when not in its lovely festive appearance 🙂

Opening today: #Erfurt's wonderful Christmas market, back after its Covid-induced breaks. And there might be snowy scenes as there's already been a bit of snow in the region. But whatever the weather, the stunning backdrop on the city's Cathedral Square is always a winner!

Are you into #Christmas decorations? The Thuringian town of Lauscha is the birthplace of delicate hand-blown glass tree decorations. The first workshop was established in the late 16th century and today, Christmas decorations are still produced in the traditional manner.

How would you like discovering a new castle? Augustusburg Castle, splendidly located in the #OreMountains, was built in the 16th century as a hunting lodge and pleasure palace. A true Renaissance beauty, ready to be conquered by you 🙂 #Saxony

Fun fact: the stunning bell-shaped dome of #Dresden's Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) weighs 12,000 tons. Irrespective of that, it's just glorious to look at 🙂 And there's a great viewing platform for you to conquer! #culturalheartofgermany #visitsaxony
