Public Kept in the Dark as Coliseum Negotiations Intensify Ahead of Planned County Vote Next Week

OAKLAND, CA — Alameda County is moving once again behind closed doors on the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum sale, placing the matter on a special Board of Supervisors agenda for Tuesday, May 26, immediately after Memorial Day weekend and with what appears to be the minimum public notice required by law.
The agenda lists closed-session negotiations over “price and terms of payment” for the Coliseum property with Oakland Acquisition Company, LLC, Coliseum Way Partners, LLC, and the City of Oakland. Oakland’s representative is listed as Acting City Administrator Betsy Lake, recently appointed after the resignation of Jestin Johnson.
The county is reportedly negotiating to buy back its half of the Coliseum from the Oakland Athletics for approximately $115 million after previously selling it for $85 million.AASEG and Oakland Acquisition Company have still not completed payment to the City of Oakland.
Earlier deal terms reportedly contemplated major payment milestones in 2025. Those deadlines shifted. Now the key closing date appears to be June 30, 2026, after Oakland and Alameda County amended the timeline to align the transaction with the County’s bond obligations.
That delay raises obvious questions: Was the money ever there? Why were deadlines moved? Why is the County now rushing closed-session negotiations immediately after a holiday? And why is Betsy Lake suddenly appearing as Oakland’s representative after Jestin Johnson’s exit?
Gotham Oakland first reported months ago that Alameda County was attempting to quietly buy back the Coliseum interest from the A’s, reportedly at a loss, and then route the property toward the same acquisition structure connected to AASEG. Now, the County appears prepared to move again.“
This deal has been made intentionally difficult to follow,” Scott said. “That is the strategy. Confusion is the architecture of corruption.”
Gotham Oakland is calling for the immediate release of all amended agreements, payment schedules, financing documents, bond-related constraints, ownership structures, and communications between Alameda County, Oakland, AASEG, Oakland Acquisition Company, the A’s, and any related parties.
The people of Oakland and Alameda County deserve more than obfuscation, backroom deals and last-minute agendas.
They deserve the truth before this deal is pushed through.

Check the before and after. A federal court judge has unredacted a document showing one section that describes what agents found in a raid at Andy Duong's house. Along with the weed, guns and cash, agents found the watch and necklace matching the description provided by Co-Conspirator 1, now identified as Mario Juarez. Previously, Juarez told me and FBI agents that the Duongs locked him out of the Evolutionary Homes offices in the California Waste Solutions headquarters along the Oakland waterfront and summoned a group of men who beat Juarez. He also said Andy Duong stole his watch and necklace, and this newly-released court document appears to confirm that aspect of the story.
I understand that a federal grand jury continues to follow the tentacles of the corruption investigation into former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao.

I looked into this and found Homes must meet a new ‘Home Energy Score’
Sellers must hire a certified assessor before listing the property. The score is between 1–10 and must be disclosed in MLS listings
Properties need to achieve a minimum of 6 credits through approved energy efficiency and electrification upgrades
Some items include
Heat pump water heater
Heat pump HVAC
Solar panels + battery storage
Insulation, efficient windows, EV charger, induction range, electrical panel upgrades
Some upgrades are cheap, some can by $50,000+
