We renew Bishop Bruce Lewandowski's call to prayer and unity as the entire community grieves in the face of such senseless acts of violence. "Let us unite in prayer for those who lost their lives, for the injured, for the Brown University community and all affected by this tragedy," said Bishop Lewandowski who, like many, was saddened and troubled by the tragedy that unfolded at Brown University. "May God continue to guide our elected officials, law enforcement, and first responders as they work to keep everyone safe... May God bless us all and may Our Lady of Providence keep us in her care," Bishop Lewandowski added while promising the resources, clergy and personnel, and charitable assistance of the Diocese of Providence wherever it might be needed. Bishop Lewandowski spent time with the students and community members at the Brown-RISD Catholic Community (@BrownRISDCC) on Sunday morning before Holy Mass, offering words of consolation, prayers, and a blessing.

As he continues to tour and get to know the richness of our Diocese of Providence, Bishop Bruce Lewandowski celebrated Holy Mass with the students and faculty of Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Hope, in Warwick, Rhode Island.

With the support of Bishop-Designate Bruce A. Lewandowski, CSsR, Monsignor Albert Kenney, Diocesan Administrator, has appointed Mr. William Klements, M.Ed. as Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Providence. “Bill Klements has served our diocese exceptionally well as Assistant Superintendent for two years,” said Monsignor Kenney. “His faith-filled leadership and his career of service in Catholic education will be great assets to our diocese and our Catholic schools.
